ABOUT WATSON ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION
Watson Electrical Construction is a leading provider of electrical contracting services, specializing in delivering high-quality solutions for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Our company prides itself on its commitment to safety, innovation, and customer satisfaction. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Serviceman to join our growing team in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Servicemen are responsible to the Service Manager, or person designated by the Service Manager, for the assigned functions being performed in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company. It is their responsibility to assist in achieving the division's aims and goals while operating within the guidelines of the company.
The responsibilities set forth, but not limited to, are:
General Summary: Work will consist of inspections, maintenance and repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the commercial, industrial and residential electrical construction industry.
Responsibilities:
Must be able to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy, perform a variety of duties which may change often. Must use reason and logic, perform arithmetical operations rapidly and accurately, see detail in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes or shadings, and picture flat drawings as 3-dimensional objects. May estimate cost of installations, repairs and adjustments. May deal and negotiate directly with customer.
  1. Direct and work with helper and/or other assigned personnel.
  2. Plan layout, install, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
  3. Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and national and local electrical codes.
  4. Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follow diagrams or blueprints, insuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.
  5. Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit, using such tools as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
  6. Pull wiring through openings or conduit, assisted by Electrician Helper.
  7. Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
  8. Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
  9. Connect power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and install grounding leads.
  10. Test continuity of circuit to insure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments.
  11. Observe functions of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  12. Complete required paperwork.
  13. Monitor safety program
  14. Demonstrate knowledge of all tools and equipment.
  15. Demonstrate efficient knowledge of trade.
  16. Plan work - responsible for materials and tools.
  17. Trouble-shoot all electric systems.

Position Requirements:
Licenses -Current driver's license if required by job conditions; applicable federal, state and local licenses as required by job conditions or by the company.
Certifications - Applicable federal, state and local certifications as required by job conditions or by the company.
Education -High School Graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent Watson training.
Experience - Required or necessary experience and/or training to assure all aspects of position are performed efficiently and productively while operating in accordance with policies and procedures of the company.
Working Conditions:
  1. Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow.
  2. Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).
  3. Job requires employee to have required personal tools with him at all times (waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 lbs).
  4. Work from all types of ladders (step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders, all size extension ladders and carry and relocate up to 12' step ladder by himself.
  5. Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder.
  6. Perform work at various heights, up to 90' from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other safe work areas.
  7. Work in restricted areas (switch gear room, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics).
  8. Wear personal protective equipment as required in Safety Handbook.
  9. Able to work 40 hours per week, overtime as required, night shifts; work out of town if needed.

  20. Comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in Company Safety Handbook.
  21. Operate two handed tools and equipment as required.
  22. Operate company trucks with manual and automatic transmission.
  23. Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blue prints and written instructions.
  24. Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered).
  25. Work energized circuits and equipment as outlined in Safety Policy.
  26. Supervise assigned job site employees to complete tasks.

Physical Function:
  1. Hear and see well (either naturally or with correction).
  2. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach over head.
  3. Lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  4. Constantly move on feet.
  5. Climb ladders (all types).
  6. Complete overhead work for full day assignments.
  7. Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder, or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use.
  8. Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
  9. Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.
