Role Description

The Electrical Commissioning Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Irving, TX. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and documenting electrical commissioning activities for complex building and mission-critical projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing electrical designs and specifications, developing pre-commissioning and commissioning plans, performing system testing and verification, and troubleshooting issues to ensure safe and reliable operation. The specialist will collaborate with project managers, design engineers, contractors, and owners to confirm that electrical systems meet design intent, code requirements, and performance standards. Additional responsibilities include preparing detailed reports, maintaining accurate project records, supporting automation and control system validation, and contributing to continuous improvement of commissioning processes.


Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of electricity and electrical systems, including power distribution, controls, and safety standards.
  • Experience with project management activities such as scheduling, coordination with stakeholders, and managing commissioning deliverables.
  • Proficiency in testing and verification of electrical and control systems, including functional testing, performance checks, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with automation systems and building controls, and the ability to validate integration and system performance.
  • Experience with pre-commissioning tasks, including review of designs, equipment start-up procedures, and readiness assessments.
  • Relevant technical degree or certification in electrical engineering, electro-mechanical technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications, and apply applicable codes and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively on-site with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with sustainable building practices, mission-critical facilities, or large commercial projects is beneficial.


Skills, Experience and Professional Credentials 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. 
  • 3–8 years of experience in commissioning, building systems engineering, design, construction, or facility operations. 
  • Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP); Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA); Building Commissioning Professional (BCxP); Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT); LEED AP or similar sustainability credential.
