Their role often includes sales, project management, and technical support related to electrical products or services. They play a crucial role in maintaining long-term client relationships and achieving sales targets.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an electrical account manager?

To thrive as an Electrical Account Manager, you need a solid understanding of electrical products and services, sales experience, and often a degree in business, engineering, or a related field. Job description

Why Choose Huston Electric?

Huston Electric, a full-service electrical contractor serving customers throughout Indiana, is seeking a full-time Indy Service Account Executive to drive growth for our Indianapolis Service Division! This is a customer-facing, results-driven role. So if you love building relationships, managing projects from start to finish, and finding opportunities to grow an account, this is the seat for you. This position is based at our Franklin, IN office with regular travel to customer sites and jobsites throughout the Indianapolis area. Working hours are 7am – 4pm with an hour for lunch. This is an exempt, non-bargaining role that reports to the Indianapolis Service Manager.

We're offering a competitive base salary ($60k-$90k), based on experience, along with a performance incentive opportunity and a full benefits package, including:

  • Vehicle allowance and company gas card
  • Paid vacation
  • Paid company holidays
  • 401(k) with company matching
  • Pension plan
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage

This is a newly created position built for a growing division. The Indy Service Account Executive will own the full customer lifecycle, from first estimate through project closeout while building lasting relationships with our service accounts and driving profitable growth. The role is based out of the Franklin office with regular travel to customer sites and jobsites throughout the Indianapolis area.

This role combines three core functions:

  1. Estimating: Develop accurate, competitive quotes from first call to delivered proposal, leveraging AI tools and Accubid.
  2. Project Management: Manage field execution, scheduling, material coordination, and budget tracking across multiple concurrent projects.
  3. Account Management: Serve as the primary contact for assigned service accounts; build trust, drive repeat work, and identify growth opportunities.

About Huston Electric

Huston Electric, Inc. is a fourth-generation, family-owned Indiana electrical contractor with five locations serving central Indiana. Our Indianapolis Service Division operates a field crew of 40–50+ IBEW Local 481 electricians across commercial, industrial, and institutional accounts. We're growing, and we're building the team to match.

What You'll Do:

  • Respond to incoming service requests and develop detailed electrical estimates and proposals. You'll be the first point of contact for customers and the driving force behind turning inquiries into awarded work.
  • Conduct site walks and jobsite visits throughout the Indianapolis area to develop accurate scope and keep account relationships strong.
  • Manage project budgets, track labor and material costs, and report on financial performance against gross profit targets.
  • Coordinate scheduling between customers, field crew, and the General Foreman so every project runs on time and on budget.
  • Process change orders, submittals, and O&M documentation from kickoff through project closeout.
  • Handle permitting coordination with local AHJs as required.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for assigned service accounts throughout the full project lifecycle — build trust, drive repeat work, and identify opportunities to grow.
  • Use AI tools daily to sharpen estimating accuracy, proposal quality, scheduling efficiency, and customer communication.
  • Support billing, work order accuracy, and collections follow-up as needed.
  • Utilize Jonas, PlanGrid, Procore, BlueBeam, and Microsoft 365 in day-to-day project and account management.
  • Participate in division planning meetings and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Experience in the electrical industry (commercial, industrial, or service) is preferred — but we will train the right person.
  • Someone comfortable reading electrical drawings, specifications, and NEC code requirements (a plus, not a requirement).
  • Estimating experience and/or Accubid proficiency is a strong plus; formal training will be provided.
  • Comfortable using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) in daily work for writing, estimating support, scheduling, and customer communication.
  • Familiar with Jonas, PlanGrid, Procore, BlueBeam, and/or Microsoft 365; full training provided on all platforms.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple active projects and accounts at the same time.
  • Customer-facing communication skills — professional, responsive, and solutions-oriented.
  • Comfortable working alongside field electricians and conducting regular site visits throughout the Indianapolis area.
  • Coachable, dependable, and genuinely motivated to own results.

A Note on This Role:

Whether you're coming from the field, a service coordination role, or a completely different industry — if you're organized, tech-savvy, and motivated to own results, we want to talk. This isn't a role for someone who wants to punch a clock. It's built for someone who wants to grow with a division, build real customer relationships, and take pride in delivering results. If that's you, we'd love to hear from you.
