Job description

EDP is growing throughout Connecticut, and the success of that growth depends on operational leaders who can develop people, drive performance, and create exceptional customer experiences across multiple locations. As Director of Operations, you'll lead five locations and partner closely with local leadership teams to ensure safe operations, strong financial results, and consistent service delivery.

Your leadership will directly impact our employees, customers, and communities. By helping our teams operate more efficiently and develop future leaders, you'll play a key role in shaping EDP's continued success in the region.

What You'll Be Responsible For Lead Operational Performance
  • Drive operational excellence across Connecticut locations.
  • Monitor financial and operational performance metrics and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with local managers to improve productivity, service quality, and profitability.
Develop and Support Local Leaders
  • Coach and mentor location managers and supervisors.
  • Support talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement efforts.
  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure customers consistently receive safe, reliable, and high-quality service.
  • Identify and address service challenges before they impact customers.
  • Promote operational practices that improve customer retention and satisfaction.
Champion Safety and Compliance
  • Reinforce EDP's commitment to a safety-first culture.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct location visits and audits to support ongoing safety performance.
Manage Assets and Resources
  • Oversee fleet, facilities, equipment, and related operational resources.
  • Support workforce planning and staffing decisions.
  • Ensure resources are aligned with business needs and customer demand.
Support Business Growth
  • Partner with sales and business development teams to support growth initiatives.
  • Assist with onboarding new locations, process improvements, and operational integration efforts.
  • Contribute ideas and insights that help strengthen EDP's market presence throughout Connecticut.
By Your First 90 Days, Success Looks Like:
  • You've built strong working relationships with location leaders and established a consistent operating cadence.
  • Key performance indicators, safety metrics, and service expectations are clearly communicated and monitored.
  • Improvement plans are underway at locations with performance opportunities.
  • Team members understand priorities, expectations, and how success is measured.
Qualifications Must Have
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in operations, logistics, field services, distribution, energy, transportation, or a related industry
  • Experience leading multiple teams, departments, or locations
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including experience managing budgets and performance metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold leaders accountable
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between Connecticut locations
Nice to Have
  • Experience in propane, energy, utilities, distribution, transportation, or industrial services
  • Experience overseeing multiple branch or field locations
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with safety and regulatory compliance programs
  • Continuous improvement or process optimization experience
Travel Requirements

This role supports five locations throughout Connecticut and requires regular travel between facilities to collaborate with teams, support operations, and drive performance. Candidates should be based within Connecticut or the surrounding region.
