Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in Small Business Development. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part-time faculty in this area.This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Instructor Qualifications
For Part-Time Instructors - Entrepreneurial Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or business-related field
At least five years of Small business management, previous ownership, top management experience in small business or other business experience in a significant management capacity
Subject areas of interest include:
Marketing
Financing businesses
Understanding and using financial statements, taxes
For Business Advisors:
SBCD business advisors provide direct business management and technical assistance to entrepreneurs and small business owners who are growing their businesses.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or business-related field (Master's degree preferred)
At least ten years of small business management, previous ownership, top management experience in small business or other business experience in a significant management capacity
Ability to relate to a diverse group of people (Primary contacts will be a broad cross-section of the general public)
Ability to analyze and research issues and work with others toward a solution
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work with a minimum of supervision while maintaining excellent records
Familiarity with business software (word processing, spreadsheets, database software, Quickbooks or other accounting software)
A team player who enjoys working in a collaborative manner with entrepreneurs, business owners and other resources in the SBDC Network, and with partner organization.
