Locations: Reston, VA or Charleston, SC (Full Time On Site)

Position Summary: Echelon is seeking a highly experienced Senior Scrum Master to guide and optimize Agile software development teams in a dynamic and mission-driven environment. The ideal candidate will bring 10โ€“15 years of experience in Agile project delivery, with a strong foundation in computer science or related technical fields. Experience working in government or defense sectors, along with familiarity with tools like GitLab (GTLB), is a strong plus. As a Senior Scrum Master, you will serve as a servant leader and Agile coach for cross-functional teams, ensuring the delivery of high-value products that meet technical, security, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams, facilitating sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
  • Coach team members and stakeholders on Agile principles, values, and best practices.
  • Remove obstacles to team progress and foster a culture of continuous improvement and transparency.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, technical leads, and program stakeholders to align priorities and ensure delivery of sprint goals.
  • Support the implementation and scaling of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, or hybrid) across projects and teams.
  • Monitor team performance, track key Agile metrics, and report progress to leadership and clients.
  • Champion Agile methodologies in complex environments involving software development, systems integration, and cybersecurity.
  • Leverage tools such as GitLab, Jira, or Azure DevOps to support Agile workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and visibility into team activities.
  • Assist with roadmap planning, risk management, and cross-team coordination.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical fieldย 
  • 10โ€“15 years of progressive experience in Agile project delivery and Scrum Master roles.
  • Deep understanding of Agile principles, with hands-on experience in Scrum, Kanban, and scaled Agile environments.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or equivalent Agile certification.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and guide project delivery in a fast-paced, mission-focused setting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, coaching, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working on software development and engineering programs with government or federal customers.
  • IAT Level II certification (Security+ or equivalent)
  • Active TS SCI w/ Poly required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GitLab (GTLB) or similar DevOps tools supporting Agile delivery pipelines.
  • Experience as a Product Owner is preferred.
