Overnight Echelon information

What is an overnight echelon?

Overnight Echelon jobs typically refer to roles that operate during the nighttime hours, often in industries like logistics, warehousing, or hospitality. These positions may involve tasks such as monitoring operations, providing security, restocking supplies, or overseeing critical functions that must continue after regular business hours. Working overnight requires adaptability to a non-traditional schedule and attention to detail to ensure smooth operations. Employees in these roles are essential for maintaining productivity and safety during periods when most staff are not present.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an overnight echelon?

To excel as an Overnight Echelon, you typically need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in overnight operations or logistics, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with inventory management systems, scheduling software, and safety protocols is crucial for maintaining efficiency during night shifts. Strong communication, problem-solving, and self-motivation are important soft skills for managing tasks independently and collaborating with limited supervision. These skills ensure that overnight operations run smoothly, meet productivity goals, and maintain safety standards.

What are common challenges faced by overnight echelon team members, and how can they be addressed?

Overnight Echelon team members often face challenges such as maintaining alertness during late hours, handling time-sensitive tasks, and ensuring seamless communication with daytime teams. To address these challenges, it's important to establish a consistent sleep schedule, use productivity techniques suited for night shifts, and leverage digital tools for effective handovers. Regular team check-ins and clear documentation also help promote collaboration and reduce errors during shift transitions.

Job description

Description:

Echelon is looking for a sharp, reliable regional straight-truck driver experienced in high-value, temperature-controlled freight. This role demands strong attention to detail, disciplined on-time performance, and a professional customer-facing presence. You’ll be trusted with sensitive, time-critical loads across a defined regional network—home often, respected always, and backed by a company that actually knows how to operate in the high-value space.
Why Drivers Choose Echelon

  • Consistent regional routes that keep you moving without living on the road.
  • Overnights on the road spent in Hotel, not truck
  • High-value, cold-chain freight that pays better and treats you like a professional.
  • Expected 40 hr workweeks + 1.5x Overtime
  • Paid Job Specific Training
  • Qarterly Safety Bonus opportunities
  • Clean, well-maintained straight-truck fleet with equipment spec’d for the work, not the bare minimum.
  • Dispatch that actually listens—real communication, zero micromanagement.
  • Paid waiting time and fair compensation for all responsibilities tied to temperature-controlled handling.
  • Company paid fuel, tolls, and approved travel expenses
  • Fast problem-solving support so you’re never stuck alone with an issue on the road.
  • A company that invests in your growth, not just your miles.
  • Modern, Well Maintained equipment, with Samsara safety and communication technology and Garmin GPS devices
  • Medical, Dental, Vision
  • Paid time off and paid vacation
Requirements:

Driver Requirements

  • Valid Class C driver’s license (Non-CDL) with a clean driving record
  • Minimum 12 months verifiable straight truck driving experience preferred
  • Prior temperature-controlled or high-value freight experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to maintain cold-chain compliance and accurately manage temperature logs
  • Strong time management and on-time delivery performance
  • Professional appearance and customer-facing communication skills
  • Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and MVR review
  • Comfortable with regional routes, including occasional overnight runs
  • Physically able to assist with freight handling when required (pallet jack, lift, secure, monitor)
