Project Manager New ERP to Replace PeopleSoft Financials
On site required: Two days a week required, but there may be weeks where more days onsite will be required (for example if an implementation vendor is onsite).
ABOUT THE ROLE
TO NOTE: Large scale ERP is the most important, so GOV experience is not a must have.
VITA is initiating a strategic effort to replace its legacy PeopleSoft Financial system with a modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution. To support this critical initiative, VITA is seeking a senior-level ERP Project Manager to lead the project from initiation through successful implementation.
This initiative has been championed by VITA's Chief Financial Officer, who secured funding through an approved budget package and clearly outlined the limitations of the agency's current 24-year-old system. To ensure the successful delivery of this enterprise-scale modernization effort, we are seeking a highly experienced IT consultant to serve as the ERP Project Manager.
The selected professional will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle-including requirements gathering, planning, vendor coordination, execution, and go-live-while serving as the key point of coordination between internal business and technical teams and the external implementation partner.
The ideal candidate will bring strategic leadership, deep ERP expertise, and a strong background in managing large-scale IT initiatives within the public sector. Experience with financial systems, cross-functional stakeholder engagement, and navigating government procurement and compliance requirements is essential to drive this mission-critical transformation to completion.
Skill Required / Desired Amount Experience Progressive experience in IT project management, with at least 5+ years managing high-risk, high-budget ($XXM+) IT projects. Required 10 Years Proven exp with large-scale ERP, or financial software implementation projects with understanding of governmental (preferred) accounting practices. Required 5 Years Expertise in PM methodologies: Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Waterfall, and hybrid models. Required 3 Years ACTIVE PMP (Project Management Professional) certification (pls upload copy under Reference TAB) Required 5 Years Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, ServiceNow, Planview). Required 5 Years Executive-level communication and negotiation skills. and Strong political acumen and ability to navigate state agency landscapes. Desired 3 Years High-level problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Desired 3 Years Demonstrated success in managing multi-agency and multi-vendor environments. Deep understanding of state procurement processes, contract negotiation Desired 5 Years Ability to lead teams through transformational change and modernization initiatives. Desired 3 Years Strong knowledge of IT governance frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT). Desired 3 Years
Question 1 Commonwealth of Virginia security policies prohibit the use of offshore IT contractors. Do you attest to the fact that your candidate will physically reside within the US for the duration of the assignment? Question 2 Please list candidate's email address. Question 3 In what city and state does your candidate currently reside? If you indicate Richmond then pls upload a copy of their drivers license under the Reference Tab to verify. Question 4 Pls note: Large scale ERP is the most important, so GOV experience is not a must have (just a preference). Please HIGHLIGHT in yellow or in BOLD type - your candidate's exp with larger scale ERP projects on their resume to help us determine when, where, and how their experience matches the requirement. Question 5 Role requires two days a week required, but there may be weeks where more days onsite will be required for example if an implementation vendor is onsite. If selected, does your candidate agree to this arrangement? Question 6 An ACTIVE PMP cert is REQUIRED for consideration. Pls upload a copy of your candidate's active PMP cert in Vector. We will bypass your candidate if it is not there.
