HonorBridge is the largest Organ Procurement Organization in North Carolina. We partner with hospitals, transplant centers and other partners to coordinate the organ and tissue donation process. We are passionate about inspiring our community to register as organ and tissue donors and provide support to the families of those who give the gift of life.

Job Summary:

Due to growth, HonorBridge is recruiting for a Donor Services Approach Coordinator. The DSAC empowers potential donor families to donate tissues, and eyes, completing necessary authorizations and interviews. The Donor Services Approach Coordinator will educate families about donation while collaborating with clinical teams to facilitate donation process. Performance is measured by the outcome of the conversation, which includes advocating for the potential donor's voice, and the needs of both cornea and tissue recipients.

What You'll be Doing:

  • This is an onsite position based out of our Winston Salem office.
  • The schedule for this position is four 10-hour shifts per week.

Adheres to HonorBridge's policies, procedures, and standards

Ensures family is supported and being provided education on donation and the donation process while advocating for organ, eye, and tissue donation

  • Facilitates donation conversation and completes authorization and Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI)
  • Provides care and information to the donor families throughout the tissue donation process
  • Responds to calls and inquiries from donor families with concerns or questions. Refers donor families to appropriate community resources, provides them with HonorBridge materials and information, and refers them to HonorBridge's Family Resource program
  • Notifies the appropriate HonorBridge staff of authorized donors in a timely manner

Collaborates with Donor Service Center Coordinators, Tissue Administrators on Call, and Tissue Recovery, to ensure a high level of customer service and efficiency in the tissue donation process

Completes referral documentation completely and accurately.

  • Adheres to standards for communications and documentation
  • Documents case related data accurately, completely, and in a timely manner into donor management software
  • Submits accurate documentation and paperwork on time

Efficiently uses technology.

  • Manages multiple logins and passwords
  • Simultaneously utilizes a variety of software platforms and applications
  • Learns and adapts easily to new software
  • Types quickly with accurate grammar and spelling

Utilizes supplies and materials in an efficient and cost effective manner.

  • Complies with HonorBridge policy
  • Maintains clean, safe and organized HonorBridge work space

Complies with quality assurance policies and procedures.

  • Collects documentation in donor record and organizes material according to policy
  • Ensures confidentiality of donor information and files

Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager of Donor Services Center.

What we are looking for:

  • Associate's degree in healthcare or related field
  • 2+ years experience in social work, chaplaincy, pastoral care, funeral services, patient advocacy, or similar
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of diseases processes
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Strong ability to prioritize
  • Knowledge of word processing and database programs
  • Commitment to organ and tissue donation
