ROLE PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY:
The Document Control Specialist is responsible for the receipt, organization, maintenance and retrieval of all quality documents and records within the facility. The Document Control Specialist will also provide leadership and assistance to the plant operations in the areas of SQF compliance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create and maintain federal and locally regulated quality system documentation and programs i.e., HACCP, FDA, SOP's GMP, SQF and other related quality records and programs.
  • Daily distribution of batch sheets, startup sheets per schedule. Works closely with materials.
  • Prepare and participate in customer and government regulatory audits as required and consistent with Food Safety Programs.
  • Maintain a current document master list and master files for all products, ingredients and SKU's.
  • Develop and maintain a document review process to ensure prompt revision of documentation to support audits, audit program, and pre-requisite programs.
  • Ensure all programs and documents are properly approved.
  • Distribute revised documents to necessary locations and remove obsolete revision.
  • Drive improvement in documentation and streamline processes using Standard Work and current documentation.
  • Develop and maintain SQF documentation (manuals, SOP's, registers, food defense program) to ensure compliance and investigate and resolve food safety issues.
  • Develop and maintain AIB documentation, food handlers' documentation and USDA documentation.
  • Incorporate customer, FDA and industry governed regulations' requirements to MSI Express Inc. documentation.
  • Maintains hold log and assists with Hold resolution.
  • Identify new SOP, SSOP's and instruction requirement: Follow through draft, approval, training, verification and implementation stages. Perform audits to ensure effectiveness.
  • Proactively work with multiple departments to develop required documentation for smooth transition from sample run to production runs.
  • Maintain SQF code awareness, reported operational GMP & HACCP deficiencies and consumer comments.
  • Provide training materials around all things FSQ. Conduct FSQ and related training as required.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

QUALIFICATIONS/ CAPABILITY PROFILE:
Minimum Skills
  • Ability to work required hours and overtime as needed
  • Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules
  • Ability to read, write, communicate, understand, and follow directions/instructions
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb and/or sit frequently or through the duration of the shift
  • Have appropriate eye, hand and foot coordination to properly use various equipment and/or tools
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

Minimum Experience
  • HACCP Certified, SQF Experience, QI, PCQI
  • Basic lab experience, manufacturing experience, proven ability to follow written directions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to read and write effectively in Spanish- Preferred
  • Ability to process quality documentation within a timely manner accurately
  • High School Diploma
