Job Summary:
The Quality Document Control Supervisor leads the day-to-day operations of Semtech's document control function, ensuring product excellence, regulatory compliance, and consistent team performance. In this role, you will supervise a team of Document Control Specialists, manage escalations, and serve as the primary liaison between the quality documentation team and cross-functional stakeholders including Legal, ESG, Business Units, and Supply Chain.
You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of Semtech's quality management system documentation, driving continuous improvement in document control workflows, and ensuring compliance with ESG, environmental product regulations, and customer-specific requirements. The Supervisor role requires both hands-on technical proficiency and strong people leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Document Control Specialists; conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and goal-setting aligned to departmental objectives.

  • Assign workloads, prioritize task queues, and manage team capacity to meet customer turn-around-time (TAT) targets and internal deadlines.

  • Provide coaching on escalated or complex compliance inquiries requiring supervisory judgment, ensuring accurate and timely resolution.

  • Coordinate cross-training and backup coverage planning to ensure business continuity during employee absences.

Customer & Cross-Functional Compliance
  • Serve as escalation point for complex customer-specific compliance inquiries; coordinate with Business Units, Legal, HR, and Procurement to drive resolution.

  • Oversee team access management for customer portals and ensure timely upload of customer-requested surveys and compliance documentation.

  • Review and approve outgoing compliance documentation for accuracy and regulatory alignment prior to distribution.

ESG, CDP & Sustainability Reporting
  • Oversee team participation in yearly ESG, CDP, and CSA data collection cycles; monitor submission deadlines and quality of responses.

  • Serve as Supervisor-level administrator for Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct, Supplier Surveys, and Corporate Surveys.

  • Support Semtech's broader ESG reporting goals by ensuring accurate, traceable, and audit-ready documentation across the team's portfolio.

Document Process Design & Governance
  • Lead the design, testing, and implementation of document data processes, templates, and workflows; establish and maintain team-wide data standards.

  • Drive adoption of process improvements, automation opportunities, and technology tools (including AI-assisted review) to increase team efficiency.

  • Ensure governance policies are applied consistently prior to entry into Agile PLM and document management systems; maintain awareness of new Interested Parties and program initiatives.

Quality Audits & Document Control Oversight
  • Conduct and supervise QA/QC audits of POR Document Control files and electronic document control systems; identify gaps and implement corrective actions.

  • Support policy discussions on document retention, e-mail recording, video recording, and related compliance topics, escalating to Legal as appropriate.

KPI Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
  • Define, monitor, and report team performance against Key Performance Indicators including TAT, compliance submission rates, and audit findings.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the document control function; present findings and recommendations to Sr. Manager Corporate Quality.

Regulatory Compliance Tracking
  • Oversee team management of: Conflict Minerals (CMRT/EMRT), REACH and RoHS Hazardous Substances, CA Proposition 65, TSCA Restrictions, Human Trafficking and Slavery, Code of Conduct (CoC), EU Waste Framework Directive, Material Declaration, and IPC compliance functions.

  • Monitor regulatory landscape for changes impacting Semtech's product compliance obligations; communicate changes proactively to stakeholders.

Administrative & Ad Hoc Support
  • Provide supervisory coverage and escalation support during team member absences or high-volume periods.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by Sr. Manager Corporate Quality.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Quality, Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or equivalent); or Associate's degree with 4+ years of progressive document control or product compliance experience, including at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory capacity.

  • Demonstrated experience supervising or leading a team; ability to coach, develop, and hold team members accountable.

  • Working knowledge of multiple environmental product regulations including RoHS, REACH, TSCA, Conflict Minerals (CMRT/EMRT), and CA Proposition 65.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions under time pressure.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear guidance for cross-functional and non-technical audiences.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with PLM systems (Agile PLM preferred), document management tools, and statistical/database applications (e.g., JMP).

  • Proven project management skills; self-motivated with the ability to drive initiatives to completion independently.

  • Commitment to workplace safety, sustainability, and environmental compliance.

  • Must be a US resident.

  • Ability to travel ~10%.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in a fabless semiconductor or electronics manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, CDP) and sustainability data management.

  • Experience with RBA/EICC Code of Conduct audits and SAQ processes.

  • Exposure to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or IATF 16949 quality management systems.

  • Experience with AI-assisted document review or compliance workflow automation tools.
