Job Description:
Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.
When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do - but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here - we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
Join Solar Turbines and propel the future of our sales, manufacturing, and service digital solutions as a Senior Oracle CPQ Technical Developer. In this highly hands-on role, you will architect, build, integrate, and support enterprise-scale Oracle CPQ solutions, leveraging your expertise in application development, data modeling, system integration, production support, and enterprise delivery processes to drive measurable business value.
Partner with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions. We are looking for an initiative-taker, problem solver, and collaborative builder who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership from concept to deployment.
If you are passionate about architecting solutions, writing code, integrating systems, and delivering technology that drives business outcomes, we want to hear from you. This is a true builder's role-focused on creating, implementing, and supporting solutions, not just designing them.
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Enterprise and Solution Architects, and cross-functional business stakeholders (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Overhaul, etc.) to understand business requirements, assess process impacts, and design and implement scalable, integrated, business-ready enterprise solutions aligned with architectural standards, security requirements, and strategic business objectives.

  • Analyze business use cases and user stories; conduct code analysis, and design, develop, implement, and support scalable, sustainable Oracle CPQ solutions and customizations, including BML scripts, configuration and commerce rules, Document Designer, and Document Engine logic.

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain Oracle CPQ solutions, Java/Java EE applications, middleware components, Apache Tomcat environments, REST/SOAP APIs, BMQL queries, custom web services, and enterprise integrations to support scalable, secure, and reliable business processes.

  • Ensure solution quality through technical governance, including architecture, design, code reviews, solution validation, and adherence to software engineering, security, scalability, performance, and enterprise governance standards.

  • Assess, plan, and execute Oracle CPQ product upgrades, Java middleware enhancements, Apache Tomcat server upgrades, security patches, and emerging platform capabilities; perform impact analysis, recommend adoption strategies, coordinate with software vendors to troubleshoot product issues, evaluate and implement vendor-recommended fixes and patches, and minimize operational risk and business disruption.

  • Contribute across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including estimation, planning, requirements analysis, development, testing, deployment, release management, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation; develop and execute unit tests; and ensure compliance with coding standards, source control procedures, DevOps practices, enterprise processes, and change management requirements.

  • Perform platform maintenance, vulnerability remediation, application upgrades, patch deployments, and release activities while ensuring compliance with enterprise release management, change control, security, and governance processes.

  • Provide ongoing production support for Oracle CPQ, Java applications, middleware, Apache Tomcat environments, and integrations by troubleshooting incidents, performing root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, collaborating with vendors to resolve product-related issues, and ensuring system stability, reliability, availability, and operational excellence.

  • Provide accurate effort estimates, actively participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and story grooming activities, and demonstrate flexibility, accountability, collaboration, and a team-first mindset to achieve delivery objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or STEM-related degree.
  • 10 years of enterprise integration architecture experience with familiarity with distinctive design and architectural patterns.
