Dock Coordinator

Location: Industrial Automotive Manufacturing Facility
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Dock Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily shipping, receiving, and dock operations at a fast-paced automotive manufacturing facility. This position serves as the primary point of contact for inbound and outbound freight, ensuring timely movement of materials while maintaining safety, inventory accuracy, and efficient dock scheduling. The Dock Coordinator works closely with production, warehouse personnel, transportation providers, and suppliers to minimize downtime and keep material flowing to support manufacturing operations.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily inbound and outbound truck traffic to maximize dock efficiency.
  • Schedule deliveries and pickups with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Verify shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and delivery receipts.
  • Ensure incoming materials are accurately received, inspected, and entered into inventory systems.
  • Coordinate outbound shipments to meet customer and production schedules.
  • Communicate with warehouse, production, logistics, and purchasing teams regarding shipment priorities.
  • Monitor dock activity to ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies, damaged freight, and inventory issues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory transactions within ERP, WMS, or SAP systems.
  • Track carrier performance and delivery metrics.
  • Coordinate emergency shipments and expedite materials when necessary.
  • Maintain organized dock staging areas to ensure safe and efficient material flow.
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as required.
  • Generate shipping reports and maintain documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on dock operations and logistics.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or dock coordination experience in an industrial or automotive environment.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Knowledge of shipping documentation and freight coordination.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with ERP, SAP, Oracle, or Warehouse Management Systems preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to become certified preferred.
