Description
New Georgia Project (NGP) is a non-partisan, 501c3 nonprofit organization formed to register the unregistered people of color in the state of Georgia. Our work is based in registering and advocating for Georgians of color (Black, Latinos, Asian-Americans) while engaging them in the democratic process and participating in collective actions around common issue areas. Those issue areas include voting rights, quality and affordable health care, economic justice, civil rights and more.?
New Georgia Project Action Fund (NGPAF) is NGP's non-partisan, 501c4 affiliate organization. It was formed to increase the civic participation of underrepresented and underserved communities of color.
NGPAF does this by engaging in local and state political campaigns, in support of, or opposition to, ballot measures, referendums, recalls, initiatives and candidacies for local and state offices.
We are seeking a Data Analyst to support the data department. This role will primarily support the field, volunteer/membership, and organizing teams. They will focus on reporting on KPIs, providing training, and support on outreach platforms. We're looking for a teammate who can innovate, think independently, and initiate change, and simultaneously operationalize and execute on existing development strategies.
POSITION SUMMARY:
NGP and NGPAF are vibrant, independent, fast-paced, non-partisan voter registration and civic organizations that have seen explosive growth in the last twelve months and are headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. NGP and NGPAF seek a passionate, collaborative, and innovative professional that will join the Organization during an exciting time of transformation.
The Data Analyst will provide support to the organization and its efforts in numerous capacities. Reporting to the Senior Data Analyst, the Data Analyst will track NGP/AF's program and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and tell the story of NGP/AF's work by building reports and dashboards, as well as training and offering support to the Organizing and Field Teams in all platforms used at NGP/AF. Platforms where professional proficiency is desired are VAN, EveryAction, GetThru (ThruTalk and ThruText), and Mobilize. Working within the Data and Targeting team, the Data Analyst will also aid teammates on day-to-day assignments, as well as long-term projects as needed.
The position requires a steady hand at time and priority management, presentation and training skills, and the ability to collaborate within a team in a fast-paced environment.

You'll also need to bring a strong commitment to excellence and true collaboration, an ability to work quickly but carefully, and appreciation for/patience, and developing and growing your team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a strong understanding of data ecosystems
  • Provide support for platforms administered by the data team, specifically: SmartVAN and GetThru Services
  • Conduct training as needed - create comprehensive and clear training materials and resource guides
  • Build reports and dashboards using Sisense Periscope and Civis Platform for org-wide use to track and maintain goals
  • Support the outreach teams by collaborating to identify KPIs and build goal ramps
  • Write and comprehend complex queries in SQL
  • Communicate and collaborate efficiently both inter and intra-departmentally
  • Other duties assigned

Requirements
  • Deep knowledge of data analytics, statistical analysis, and research methods?
  • 1.5+ years of experience manipulating large data sets using SQL; comprehending and writing complex queries
  • 1.5+ years of experience with data visualization tools (Sisense Periscope, Tableau, or similar) building dashboards for organization-wide use
  • 2+ years of experience using SmartVAN??
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets skills, ability to utilize advanced formulas, pivot tables, etc.
  • Strong presentation skills, ability to explain data to a non-data-oriented audience
  • Proven experience and comfort with data quality control
  • Ability to communicate complicated data and analytics reports, systems and process with a cross section of stakeholders including those with less data expertise;
  • Ability to think critically in a fast-paced environment, pivoting and balancing several assignments at once.

NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Python or R
  • Background in field organizing and/or customer service
  • Campaign experience
  • Understanding of Georgia and southern political landscape
