The Director of Distribution & Logistics reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Global Manufacturing and Distribution and is responsible for end-to-end distribution operations including warehousing, transportation, inventory flow, order fulfillment, and associated inspection and returns processes. This role ensures high service levels, optimized costs, and efficient operations aligned with Conn-Selmer's supply chain and commercial objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Lead distribution and logistics operations to deliver on-time, accurate, and cost-effective product flow while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Lead all warehouse and distribution center operations including receiving, storage, picking, shipping, and material handling
  • Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient facility operations
  • Drive on-time and accurate order fulfillment to meet customer expectations
  • Lead and support import instrument inspection processes within the distribution center
  • Oversee vendor return and customer return processes including physical handling, disposition, and system accuracy
  • Lead and manage inventory accuracy, cycle counting, transactional accuracy, and material flow including FIFO discipline
  • Optimize transportation strategy including partnering with Indirect Sourcing Team on carrier selection, freight cost, and routing.
  • Implement Lean practices to improve productivity, throughput, and space utilization.  Continually update distribution analysis of the network to ensure space requirements owned and leased are optimized for projected requirements.
  • Leverage ERP and warehouse systems to enhance visibility and operational control
  • Partner cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, planning, procurement, and customer service
  • Support new product launches and demand changes through effective distribution planning
  • Develop and lead a high-performing team with strong accountability and engagement


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field required
  • APICS Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) preferred
  • 10+ years in distribution, logistics, or supply chain leadership
  • 5+ years leading distribution or warehouse operations
  • Experience in manufacturing or hybrid environments
  • Proven track record driving operational improvement and cost reduction
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, transportation, and reverse logistics
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems (D365 preferred)
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Periodic travel to company facilities
  • Combination of office and warehouse environment
  • Ability to stand and walk distribution floor as needed
  • Occasional lifting up to 25-50 lbs
