Job description

Job Summary

NAPA Auto Parts is seeking a skilled and energetic Clerk to join our growing team. Our Clerks could perform a variety of functions including inbound, outbound, UPS, Core Processing, Returns and RGN's. Clerks are responsible for ensuring that all documents and functions are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This role may also involve communication with customers and vendors as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inbound: Schedule inbound freight to align with warehouse operations and capacity. Verify receiving counts match packing lists and purchase orders. Collect all necessary documentation for inbound freight and route appropriately. Assist with Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) verifications.
  • Outbound: Schedule outbound freight according to warehouse operations and capacity. Ensure proper application of labels and tickets before shipments are dispatched. Maintain security procedures at dock doors. Ensure all shipping documentation is completed timely and accurately.
  • UPS Shipments: Print shipping labels, securely overpack products, and ensure proper sorting and routing of packages.
  • Core Processing: Unload and stage core returns/defective cores, Sort and scan cores, completes all paperwork associated with core return procedures.
  • Returns: Process all returns of classified merchandise to the DC by checking shipments for accuracy, completing all paperwork related to class returns and restocks parts in designated areas.
  • RGN: Prepares and ship back all labor claims by checking DC stock, receives for jobbers, accumulates and creates claims & ships back to vendor all recall merchandise, while also answering questions from stores regarding warranties, rejections, repairs & returns & labor claims. Will also need to create claims for, and ship back claims to vendors for chemical defectives.
  • Quality Control: Ensure shipments are accurate and free from damage. Report any quality variances promptly.
  • Safety, Housekeeping, & Security: Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment. Support and comply with the company's safety programs, policies, and initiatives.
  • Decision Making: Proactively identify and resolve problems during daily warehouse operations.
  • Meet or exceed production goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 60 pounds and push or pull loads up to 300 pounds using mechanical aids.
  • Physical ability to bend, twist, squat, climb, and reach, including use of ladders when required.
  • Good judgment and strong decision-making skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Prior experience in shipping or receiving is preferred.
  • Experience with computers and RF scanning equipment.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends as needed.
  • Capable and willing to operate warehouse equipment.

Physical Demands / Working Environment

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry objects of varying weights,60lbs. pounds or more, depending on job duties.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Capability to push and pull carts, pallet jacks, or other equipment loaded with materials throughout the warehouse. This may involve pushing or pulling heavy loads over extended distances or up ramps.
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often for the duration of a shift. Warehouse employees need to be able to move around the warehouse facility to pick orders, stock shelves, or perform other tasks.
  • Bending and Stooping: Capacity to bend, stoop, squat, and reach to retrieve items from shelves, bins, or storage racks. Employees need the ability to access items throughout the warehouse at various heights and angles.
  • Climbing: Can climb ladders or stairs to access elevated storage areas or perform maintenance tasks. Warehouse employees need to have the capacity to work at heights to include open floor mezzanines and follow safety protocols for ladder use.
  • Operating Equipment: Proficiency in operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers. Depending on the job role, employees must pass certification or training programs to operate certain equipment safely.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hands and fingers to handle small objects, operate machinery controls, and perform tasks requiring precision and accuracy. This may include picking and packing items, labeling products, or assembling shipments.
  • Repetitive Motion: Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as scanning barcodes, sorting items, or packaging products, throughout the shift. Employees should be able to maintain productivity while performing repetitive motions safely.
  • Physical Endurance: Stamina and endurance to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity targets. Warehouse employees need to have the capacity to work long hours, weekends, or overtime during peak periods.
