Architecture & Facilities Engineering (A&FE) is looking for a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to support the development and sustainment of projects we support throughout the Disneyland Resort and ancillary properties.

Our department supports a wide range of project types ranging from Attractions, Maintenance, Foods, Merchandise, Entertainment, through extended properties. Projects range from minor renovations to new on existing facilities and utility-based assets. Additionally, supporting immediate response efforts with reactionary projects. The role requires performing as the Owner's Representative with technical expertise for engineering issues, design management of in-house and outside resources, code compliance, Disney design standards, documentation, specifications, and life cycle cost analysis for best value. This role also involves close collaboration with other engineering disciplines and multiple Disney project teams.

You will report to the A&FE MEP Engineering Sr. Manager and sit in Anaheim, CA.

You Will / Job Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • In this collaborative role, you will act as Owner's Technical Representative on projects from concept through sustainment throughout the Disneyland Resort and ancillary properties.

  • Perform as Owner's Representative, including witnessing the signing and sealing of construction documents as needed.

Management:

  • Manage the design and development of contract documents of projects with in-house and outside resources to meet project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

  • Coordinate design activities and monitor field installations and demolition work that comply with specifications and code requirements.

Technical Skills:

  • Use and build your experience to develop concept designs and RFP's (Request for Proposals).

  • Review drawings, engineering calculations, and specifications and ensure that all projects are designed and executed to applicable local and state codes and statutes.

  • Review shop drawing submittals and respond to vendor's requests for information per Resort standards.

  • Site visits to problem solve issues and minimize schedule impacts.

Relationship:

  • Partner with internal teams to develop, maintain, communicate, and enforce Walt Disney Company design guidelines, standards, master specifications, and details.

  • Assist Project and Design Managers to resolve design compliance issues relating to Projects requirements. Validate that all Item Specifications are consistent with products installed before archiving manuals.

  • Build enhanced communications and expectations to successfully execute all projects.

You Will Have / Required Experience:

  • 6+ years of fire protection proven related experience

  • Full awareness w/ working knowledge of Building & Fire Codes and NFPA Codes & Standards.

  • OSHA compliance experience with codes and standards development such as NFPA, ASTM, ICC, CFR, etc.

  • Proven field experience in the design, integration/coordination/rectification, and construction of fire protection systems and/or fire protection consulting.

  • Knowledge in the use and application of computer modeling tools for fire and smoke spread and timed egress analysis.

  • Owner's representation and AHJ capacity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical Plumbing specific experience with theme parks, resort hotels, and mixed-use facilities with backflow prevention analysis.

  • Experience with fire testing and regulatory application of fire test methods to building materials.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.

Required Education:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred from an ABET accredited university)

  • CA Professional Engineer in Fire Protection Engineer (License)

Preferred Education:

Master's Degree in related engineering field

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $115,300.00 to $140,900.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
