The Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown offers 168 beds for nursing home care. Two levels of care are offered: standard care for veterans in need of any intermediate level of care, and memory care for veterans with Alzheimerโ€™s disease and other types of dementia.

CUSTODIAL WORKER JOB DETAILS:ย 

  • Starting Hourly Pay: $18.87 with multiple pay increases over your first years of serviceย 
  • Superior medical coverage starts the 1st of the month following start date
  • Dental, vision, and basic life insurance premiums are free after eligibility period dependent on union representation.
  • Generous Benefits package including vacation, sick, holiday, and personal leave.
  • OPERS retirement - The employee contributes 10% of their salary towards their retirement. The employer contributes an amount equal to 14% of the employeeโ€™s salary.ย 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Under general supervision, cleans & maintains restrooms, living facilities &/or dining areas, offices (e.g., sweeps, mops, strips, buffs & waxes floors; vacuums carpets; cleans glass & mirrors; washes windows & walls; scrubs sinks, countertops, toilets; cleans & empties receptacles; dust varying surfaces; replenishes soap, toilet paper, paper towels)
  • Responsible for exercising principles of infection control & implements infection control policies & procedures (e.g., wipes up spills & fluids on floor; washes & cleans resident beds & other furniture; proper use of personal protective equipment)
  • Checks on supplies; stocks supply closets
  • Reports need for repair of equipment; reports evidence of fire, illegal entry & theft of property
  • Cleans offices (e.g., vacuums carpet, cleans & dusts furniture, fixtures & equipment; cleans & empties trash receptacles)
  • Performs any additional job-related duties as assigned
