About the job
Based in New York within the Global Sales, The Americas team, the Director, Travel Industry, The Americas is responsible for leading the regional travel trade sales strategy across leisure FIT and group segments. The role plays a critical leadership role in driving revenue performance, strengthening strategic relationships with key travel industry partners, and ensuring consistent execution across the Americas portfolio.
The Director reports directly to the Vice President, Global Sales, The Americas, and leads the Travel Industry sales team for the region.
As Director, Travel Industry, The Americas, you will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Lead and execute the Americas Travel Industry sales strategy aligned with global sales objectives and brand priorities
  • Personally manage a portfolio of top-tier global and regional travel industry accounts, maintaining senior-level engagement and accountability
  • Drive revenue growth, ADR optimisation, and market share across the Americas portfolio
  • Develop and oversee disciplined account planning, client engagement strategies, and effective CRM usage
  • Support and, where required, directly lead partnership and contract negotiations in collaboration with hotel, revenue, and legal teams
  • Deliver regular performance analysis, market intelligence, and competitive insights to inform commercial decisions
  • Support new hotel openings through pre-opening travel trade engagement and sales planning
  • Represent Mandarin Oriental at key industry events, trade shows, roadshows, and client engagement activities
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Revenue Management, Distribution, GSA partners, and hotel leadership to maximise commercial impact

As Director, Travel Industry, The Americas, we expect from you:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Hotel Management or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years' experience within luxury hospitality, with deep expertise in the travel trade segment
  • Proven leadership experience managing sales teams, budgets, and complex account portfolios
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and communication skills with credibility at C-suite and senior agency level
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering revenue growth and exceeding commercial objectives
  • Ability to operate effectively within a matrixed, global organisation
