Job description

PWS Inc. – Earthwork Foreman & Equipment Mechanic (North Dakota Projects)

PWS Inc. is actively recruiting experienced candidates for two key field positions working on projects throughout North Dakota. We are seeking an Earthwork Foreman with strong site leadership and technical layout skills, and an experienced Equipment Mechanic skilled in diesel diagnosis and repair. Both roles require travel and are union positions; non-union applicants will be supported through the local union enrollment process.

Earthwork Foreman – Role Overview

As an Earthwork Foreman you will supervise excavation, grading and site-preparation crews across various civil and heavy construction projects. The ideal candidate will have 4–5+ years of relevant foreman experience and be comfortable using today’s technology to deliver accurate, efficient results.

  • Key responsibilities: lead daily crew activities, ensure safe and productive operations, interpret and implement project plans and specifications, coordinate equipment and materials, and maintain quality control.
  • Technical skills: proficiency with computer tools, GPS rover and base operation, basic data management and digital stakeout workflows.
  • Communication: strong verbal and written skills to liaise with project management, subcontractors and union personnel.
Equipment Mechanic – Role Overview

The Equipment Mechanic will maintain and repair heavy construction equipment across North Dakota projects. We are seeking a candidate with proven diesel diagnostic skills and hands-on experience with preventive maintenance programs.

  • Key responsibilities: perform diesel engine diagnosis and repair, conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems, and utilize diagnostic software to identify and resolve faults.
  • Technical expectations: familiarity with modern diagnostic platforms, ability to read schematics and use common shop tools and testing equipment.

Additional Information: Both positions are union roles. PWS will assist non-union applicants with joining the appropriate local union. Travel between project sites throughout North Dakota is required. Candidates must be serious, experienced, and motivated to work in a fast-paced, safety-first environment.
