About the Role


We are seeking a talented, trend-forward Senior Apparel Designer to join our team in NYC! Working closely with our Design Director, you will help create an exciting, commercial young adult/juniors' line for Walmart, with a heavy focus on cut-and-sew knits, woven bottoms, and sets. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess sharp technical design skills, and love seeing your creations hit major retail shelves, we want to hear from you!



Responsibilities



  • Design Execution: Produce fast, accurate, and on-trend apparel sketches using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Project Management: Stay highly organized to hit critical deadlines and ensure smooth project workflows.
  • Trend Research: Run in-depth trend and competitive shopping research to pitch brand-appropriate concepts that align with vendor capabilities.
  • Technical Design: Build detailed, accurate tech packs within PLM systems to communicate specifications overseas.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with the Design Director to coordinate with overseas vendors and integrate customer feedback.
  • Collaborate with the graphics team to align on print and graphic directions.
  • Troubleshoot sample issues proactively to keep production on schedule.




Qualifications



  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Apparel Design or a related field.
  • Experience: 4+ years of full-time professional design experience in cut-and-sew and woven categories. Juniors/Young Adult fashion experience is highly preferred.



Required Skills



  • Tech Skills: Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and PLM systems.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of garment construction, manufacturing processes, and vendor communication.
