Design Manager

Position Type: Full-Time / Onsite

Industry: DreamGro (Children’s Wear Division)


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

DreamGro brings imagination, craftsmanship, and playfulness to children’s wear and giftable soft goods. Our children’s wear division is looking for a Design Manager with a creative vision who thrives in a trendy, creative environment and brings ideas to life as tangible retail products. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Design & Development

  • Design silhouettes and colored CADs aligned with seasonal direction.
  • Develop and review tech packs for accuracy and production readiness.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director to implement the line plan and color stories.
  • Facilitate color selection, art sizing, and concept coordination.

Project & Department Management

  • Manage line plan implementation, track milestones, and assign designer projects.
  • Oversee team workflow, Trello organization, and departmental structure.
  • Handle special projects and urgent design needs.
  • Serve as the Creative Director’s right hand — ensuring the department runs smoothly and efficiently.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Liaise between design, packaging, and production teams.
  • Track approvals from Spec Tech and Production Coordinator.
  • Ensure compliance with international labeling and translation standards.
  • Oversee retailer compliance (safety, labeling, packaging).
  • Coordinate samples, fabrics, and materials for overseas sourcing.

Team & Presentation

  • Prepare line and buyer presentations with the design team.
  • Support the Creative Director in visual meetings and reviews.


COMPETENCIES

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop.
  • Advanced experience in garment construction, fabrics, trims, and color theory.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal ability — able to get along with all personalities.
  • Excels in a fast-paced environment.
  • A balance of creative flair and operational discipline.
