Reports To: Director of Student Health Center

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Employment Status: Part-Time (20 Hours per Week), 10-Month Position

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Travel Requirements: Minimal

Supervisory Responsibilities: None


Position Summary

The Student Health Center Nurse works directly with the Director of the Student Health Center to support the healthcare needs of students. The nurse assists in providing health education and wellness information to the campus community, as needed, in a manner consistent with the mission of Benedictine College.


Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with Student Health Center staff to determine when students require additional medical care.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of campus health and safety protocols.
  • Provide high-quality nursing care and support to students.
  • Identify and assess illnesses and injuries and provide appropriate treatment and care.
  • Assist with referrals to physicians, healthcare facilities, or other medical professionals as needed.
  • Respond to student health concerns and provide appropriate follow-up care.
  • Coordinate student isolation procedures and other non-medical support services when necessary.
  • Communicate with students, staff, and families regarding health-related questions and concerns.
  • Perform other student health-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding and acceptance of Catholic and Benedictine values.
  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare practices and clinical nursing skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and sound clinical judgment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency with word processing, email, database software, and other standard computer applications.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality requirements in the handling of student health information.
Requirements:

Education and Experience


Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent nursing degree.

Required Licensure

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Kansas or a valid Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) multistate license.
  • Current CPR certification.

Experience

  • Two (2) years of nursing experience in a clinical, outpatient, school health, urgent care, or related healthcare setting.
