Location: Northern California (San Ramon), Reno, NV, or Las Vegas, NV
Hire Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $158,000 – $175,000 (based on education and experience)

Sterling Engineering is looking for a Principal Project Manager – Transmission & Substation. This opportunity is with a leading engineering services organization supporting major utility infrastructure capital projects.

Job Duties:
  • Lead major electric transmission and substation capital projects, including upgrades and rebuilds.
  • Manage large project portfolios with budgets of $25M+.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with utility clients including Pacific Gas and Electric Company and NV Energy.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, and execution strategy.
  • Utilize Primavera P6 for scheduling, budgeting, and workflow management.
  • Ensure alignment with PMI principles and best practices.
  • Provide technical and operational leadership across project lifecycle phases.
  • Hybrid schedule with weekly onsite expectations depending on project location.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in the utility sector, preferably electric transmission and substation projects.
  • Proven experience managing complex capital projects with budgets of $25M+.
  • Strong knowledge of PMI project management principles.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office Suite.
