Duration: 12+ months

Responsibilities

Assist with overall Power BI/SQL Support (development, performance, process, documentation) related to the Data Quality Enhancement initiative and other development efforts as needed. Activities include:

Maintain the confidentiality of all business data and adhere to VRS data security policies.

Meet all deliverables withing the agreed upon timeframe.

Provide regular status updates and attend various meetings as required.

Develop, design, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards based on business requirements.

Create interactive visualizations, reports, dashboards that assist with effective monitoring of Critical Data Elements.

Advise on best practices in data visualization and report optimization.

Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate into actionable reports.

Develop, optimize and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures for data retrieval and manipulation.

Develop DAX queries to enhance the performance and functionality of reports.

Develop reports to support KPIs and other performance indicators.

Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI and SQL tools.

Review existing SQL Queries, Execution Plans, Partitions, and Index(s) to determine performance enhancements for long running queries.

Provide alternative options to existing data manipulation techniques. Examples would be converting Excel manipulation activities into solutions that reduce process/cycle time of data preparation.

Special projects at the direction of the Chief Operating Officer or Data Officer.

Skills Needed

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in developing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI Required 5 Years

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server SQL development, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning. Required 5 Years

Experience in writing complex DAX queries. Required 3 Years

Experience with MS SQL Server data modelling and schema design. Required 5 Years

Experience working in an Agile development environment. Required 3 Years

Ability to work independently and as part of a team that includes business and technical stakeholders. Required 5 Years

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Required 5 Years

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Required 5 Years

Experience in Pensions Benefit Management programs Desired 2 Years

Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView) Desired 2 Years

Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R. Desired 2 Years

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS). Nice to have 2 Years

Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or equivalent Nice to have 1 Years

Other relevant certifications in SQL, Data Analysis and database management Nice to have 1 Years
