Job Description - Summary
Surry Community College is seeking a qualified instructor to deliver Power BI training through its Workforce Technology and Community Education (WTCE) program. This position plays a key role in helping train the future workforce by providing practical, hands-on instruction in data visualization and business intelligence tools aligned with industry needs.
This position supports short-term workforce training designed to prepare students with in-demand data and analytics skills.

Flexible schedule to include day, afternoon, evening, online, or weekend classes based on program needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Excel, including dashboards, reports, and data visualization
  • Teach data modeling, transformation (Power Query), and basic analytics concepts
  • Demonstrate best practices for interpreting and presenting data insights
  • Evaluate student performance and support skill development

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant industry experience using Microsoft Excel, Power BI or similar BI tools
  • Knowledge of data visualization, reporting, and analysis
  • Effective communication and instructional skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate in Business Administration or related field
  • Microsoft Power BI certification or related credentials
  • Microsoft Excel certification or related credentials
  • Prior teaching or workforce training experience
  • Experience with Excel, SQL, or data analytics tools
