Our Jacksonville Site Civil Engineering discipline includes Civil Engineers who plan, design, and prepare construction documents for a variety of public and private development projects. Typical projects include commercial, industrial, municipal, educational, and recreational site developments. Design responsibilities may include site layout, grading and drainage, stormwater management systems, utility infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, roadway and parking lot design, permitting support, and construction documentation. Software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools is often used for this work, including 3D site modeling and earthwork analysis.

Key Responsibilities: Site Civil Engineering interns will be expected to perform the following key responsibilities with supervision and assistance from a Hanson Professional Engineer:

  • Preparing plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Gathering and/or providing data for the preparation of engineering reports, studies, and permit applications.
  • Performing and/or reviewing calculations related to grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and site development.
  • Utilizing engineering software packages such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools.
  • Conducting field investigations and/or site visits to gather information and verify existing conditions.
  • Documenting and/or observing construction operations and assisting with construction phase services.
  • Performing related duties such as writing memoranda, letters, or general reports; collecting and correlating engineering data; maintaining records; and attending meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Interns must be actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program.
  • The ideal candidate will have successfully completed their sophomore year and be actively enrolled in a 4-year college or university.

Key requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license

The hourly range for this position is $21 - $26 per hour for undergraduates.

$30 - $40 per hour for postgraduates.
