This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.
IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern in Greenwood Village, CO to work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, field inspections, writing reports, preparing permit applications, site drainage and grading designs, and learning the Civil Engineering trade. Over 10-12 weeks, you will gain hands-on experience supporting civil engineering work across active projects.
This role supports work performed within project monetary budgets and in collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. You will contribute to municipal and transportation work while helping deliver resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards

  • Assist with researching resources for commercially available equipment

  • Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files

  • Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers

  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress

  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check

  • Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information

  • Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement

What You'll Bring
Required
Education and Experience
  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required

Skills and Abilities
  • May be required to assist with field duties such as surveying and materials testing

  • Strong interest in design consulting

  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred
  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds

  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull

  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises

  • Municipal-heavy civil team serving Colorado's Front Range from Greenwood Village and Breckenridge

  • On-call engineering, development and plan review, and public-works support for Colorado cities and districts

  • Water/wastewater, stormwater, GIS, street design, and traffic-signal work

  • Strong relationships with Front Range municipalities and metro districts

  • Recent work includes Town of Morrison On-Call Engineering, Government; City of Golden Streets & Utilities, Government; and Castle Pines Metro District Water & Tank, Water/Wastewater

State of Colorado Pay Range: $22-$24 per hour
The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.
Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
