The Center for Innovation in Engineering Education (CIEE) was launched in 2022 to lead the College of Engineering in new and innovative advancements in engineering education. The Center is responsible for leading the College of Engineering's innovation and scholarship in undergraduate engineering education. CIEE conducts and supports research in all areas of engineering education, developing and supporting the implementation of new pedagogical approaches and instruction technologies that enhances a student's educational experience. Examples include, embedding leadership, teamwork, entrepreneurship and communications development throughout the curriculum. CIEE also explores lean principles in engineering education, supporting the design and optimization of classroom technology and use efficiency, assessing the educational impact of the new practices on student learning outcomes, and accelerating the College of Engineering's standing among student, academic, and professional communities as leaders in engineering education. CIEE activities also include providing oversight of core engineering courses, assessing the educational impact of the new practices on student learning outcomes, and providing professional development opportunities for faculty to further develop their teaching practice.
This position is the Director for the Center for Innovation in Engineering Education in the College of Engineering and is responsible for developing, initiating, and leading the programs within the Center. The successful candidate will build on current Center successes and provide leadership in all Center activities and in existing efforts focused on undergraduate education including the Collaborative for Engineering Education and Teaching Effectiveness (CEETE) program and Pieper Servant Leadership program, and a portfolio of other faculty development programs.
The successful candidate will operate with a significant level of independence and must have a high degree of professionalism, project management and organizational skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with campus partners, College of Engineering leadership and academic departments. Requirements for success in this position include strong written and oral communication skills, analytical and quantitative skills, attention to detail, ability to handle confidential matters, and organizational skills to prioritize and delegate to staff a wide variety of tasks and deadlines. Candidates for the position will have supervisor responsibilities of staff and budget in the Center.
This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of undergraduate engineering education and ability to interpret and analyze qualitative and quantitative data. This position must also be able to provide non-technical expertise in a research or scientific project. This position will lead in the development of Center reports and the regular preparation and presentation of Center research results. This position will also have administrative responsibilities such as training and supervising students, strategic planning, grant management, staff assessment and budget planning with College of Engineering leadership. The successful candidate will serve on strategically selected committees at both the College and Campus levels.

Compensation:The starting salary for the position is $100,000 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications).

Required Qualifications:Minimum of eight (8) years of higher education experience in a position that includes academic planning, engineering pedagogy, innovative engineering education, instructional technology, student learning assessment and/or faculty development
Demonstrated success in leading or managing strategic engineering education initiatives, programs and associated staff, including ability to operationalize activities that align with project goals and resources, problem-solve and engage appropriate stakeholders
Demonstrated experience in building strong and credible relationships across a broad variety of constituents and diverse groups
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and be part of a diverse team of professionals
Proficiency in the implementation and support of digital tools used by a wide variety of stakeholders in an academic setting
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Required: Master's Degree
Preferred: PhD or other terminal degree
