Job description

Job Description:
Director, Paid Social Media
At Chewy, we believe great work starts with great people.
Here, you'll be part of a team that values who you are, what you bring, and where you want to grow. We offer meaningful work, competitive compensation, and opportunities to develop your career in an environment built on trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to delivering for pet parents.
Your Opportunity
Chewy is seeking a Director, Paid Social Media to lead one of the most visible and strategically important growth areas in our marketing portfolio. This leader will own our paid social strategy across Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest and emerging platforms, helping Chewy create brand awareness, demand, deepen engagement, and acquire high-quality customers in the places where pet parents increasingly search, discover, evaluate, and shop.
This is a high-impact opportunity to shape how Chewy shows up across the modern social ecosystem. You will lead a significant paid social investment and build the strategy, operating model, creative testing systems, measurement approach, and team capabilities required to make Chewy one of the most trusted, talked-about, and effective social brands in the pet category and beyond.
The ideal candidate is both a strategic growth leader and a deep paid social operator. You understand the distinct role each platform can play across the customer journey, and you know how to match the right creative, audience, bid strategy, and measurement approach to the right business objective. You are fluent in platform-native creative, full-funnel analytics, AI-enabled testing, and the realities of measuring social impact in a noisy attribution environment.
This role reports into the Head of Social Media & Editorial within Chewy's Performance Media organization, with meaningful visibility to VP, C-suite, and cross-functional senior leaders. You will partner closely with Brand, Creative, Influencer, Marketing Science, Finance, Product, Martech, Merchandising, and agency/platform partners to connect platform attention to downstream business outcomes, including high-quality sessions, purchase intent, branded demand, gross adds, CAC, revenue, LTV, and contribution profit.
What You'll Do
  • Lead Chewy's full-funnel paid social strategy across Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest, and emerging platforms, defining the role of each channel across awareness, consideration, acquisition, retention, and demand creation.
  • Own paid social investment strategy, budget allocation, scaling criteria, efficiency guardrails, and test-and-learn priorities across a significant scaled media portfolio.
  • Build and improve the paid social operating model across campaign architecture, audience strategy, bidding, creative testing, signal quality, reporting, and optimization.
  • Partner with Brand, Media Comms, Creative, Influencer, and agency teams to develop a high-velocity, platform-native creative testing engine across hooks, formats, creators, offers, products, categories, and customer segments.
  • Drive high-quality demand to Chewy by improving the volume, quality, and purchase intent of sessions generated through paid social.
  • Partner with Marketing Science, Finance, Martech, and Product to evolve measurement across platform attribution, incrementality, lift studies, MMM, signal quality, and downstream business contribution.
  • Translate platform and media performance into executive-ready narratives that connect reach, views, engagement, clicks, and site/app behavior to business outcomes such as branded demand, gross adds, CAC, revenue, LTV, and contribution profit.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of digital marketing managers, platform channel leads, and agency partners.

What You'll Need
  • 12+ years of experience in paid social, performance marketing, growth marketing, or digital media, with progressive ownership of large-scale paid media programs.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and developing strong operators into strategic business leaders.
  • Deep fluency in paid social and video platforms, with the ability to guide channel strategy, challenge platform recommendations, and coach teams on platform-specific best practices.
  • A track record of scaling full-funnel paid social programs that drive measurable outcomes across awareness, consideration, acquisition, retention, customer quality, and long-term value.
  • Hands-on depth in the core mechanics of paid social, including campaign architecture, audience strategy, bidding, optimization, creative testing, signal quality, event tracking, automation, and performance reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve performance through platform-native creative, rapid experimentation, audience insights, and disciplined learning agendas.
  • Experience managing significant media budgets and making investment recommendations tied to revenue, CAC, ROAS, LTV, contribution profit, incrementality, and enterprise priorities.
  • Experience with AI -enabled creative analytics, automated variation testing, modular creative systems, or rapid content experimentation at scale.
  • Comfort making decisions in imperfect attribution environments, using a mix of platform data, incrementality testing, brand or conversion lift, MMM, and downstream business signals.
  • Ecommerce, retail, marketplace, subscription, or high-velocity consumer growth experience, with an understanding of category strategy, merchandising priorities, customer lifecycle, and margin-aware growth.
  • Executive communication skills, with the ability to simplify complexity, debate tradeoffs, influence senior stakeholders, and turn data into clear strategic recommendations.

Bonus
  • Experience scaling paid social within a large retail, ecommerce, marketplace, subscription, or consumer brand environment.
  • Experience with signal strategy, including pixel/CAPI, event quality, privacy-safe measurement, audience signals, and automated bidding governance.
  • Experience with creator-led paid media, Spark Ads, whitelisting/allowlisting, affiliate creator amplification, or influencer-to-paid social workflows.
  • Passion for pets, culture-first creative, and building paid social programs that earn attention, create demand, and drive measurable business impact.

What You'll Get
  • A place where you can be your authentic self and grow your career. Our pet parents and partners are from everywhere - different places and different walks of life. It is what makes them unique. Likewise, Chewtopians are encouraged to bring their perspectives to deliver on our mission.
  • Work in a culture that cares, with managers who value you and your career journey. Be empowered to think big, deliver results, and become your best.
  • Opportunities to build meaningful connections with a diverse group of Chewtopians through Team Member Resource Groups and inclusive company events, programs, and activities.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, in addition to wellness programs and resources that enable you to be your best self in and outside of work.

The base salary range for this role is $186,500 - $297,500.00.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.

We offer different types of insurance and benefits, such as medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident. We offer parental leave, family services benefits, backup dependent care, flexible spending accounts, telemedicine, pet adoption reimbursement, employee assistance program, and many discounts including 10% off pet insurance and 20% off at Chewy.com.
Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
