Housing Resource Specialist

Faith Mission

Full Time | Days | 8am - 5pm

Pay: Starting at $22/hour

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Housing Resource Specialist for Faith Mission in Columbus, Ohio. Faith Mission is one of the largest homeless shelters in Columbus, Ohio, providing meals and shelter to men, women and Veterans with dignity and compassion.


What will I do as a Housing Resource Specialist with Lutheran Social Services?


  • Assess client needs, housing barriers, financial situations, and housing goals to develop individualized housing plans.
  • Assist clients with housing searches, rental applications, lease agreements, and move-in coordination.
  • Educate clients on budgeting, tenant rights and responsibilities, independent living skills, and housing stability strategies.
  • Connect clients with housing assistance programs, community resources, utility assistance, and supportive services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, and community partners to expand housing opportunities.
  • Advocate for clients and mediate landlord-tenant concerns to support successful housing placements and retention.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, housing records, client documentation, and required reports.
  • Respond to housing crises, provide problem-solving support, and promote client self-sufficiency.
  • Collaborate with case managers, service providers, and team members to ensure positive client outcomes.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and community outreach activities.

Requirements for a Housing Resource Specialist with Lutheran Social Services:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field with equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years working in a social service setting preferred.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people. Experience working with the following or related populations: homelessness, behavioral health, substance abuse/addiction
  • Experience working with property manager, landlords, housing subsidies/HUD and permanent supportive housing providers.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license, access to reliable insured transportation and ability to meet LSS insurance standards required
