Job description

Manager, Multimedia, Enterprise Learning & Development

Capital One's Enterprise Learning & Development team is seeking a Manager, Multimedia L&D to serve as a visionary creative director and empowering people leader. You don't just execute on design requests-you inspire a team to elevate the visual standard of our learning products. This is an interdisciplinary role that treats multimedia not just as decoration, but as a crucial driver of knowledge transfer. By merging deep expertise in digital design with a foundational understanding of adult learning principles, you will guide your team to craft cohesive visual experiences that support measurable behavioral change. You'll act as a bridge between instructional intent and creative execution, using a thoughtful, collaborative approach to solve complex design challenges in a fast-paced environment.

You are trusted by the business to make strategic multimedia recommendations that elevate learning for audiences of all levels. Beyond individual products, you drive impact for the broader L&D team by intentionally developing your direct reports, managing capacity and setting the standard for what visual design excellence looks like at scale.

The ideal candidate is...

  • A thoughtful people leader: You lead with empathy, finding as much joy in mentoring and developing your team of multimedia designers as you do in creating the assets yourself. You foster a culture of continuous learning, feedback, and inclusion, helping your direct reports maximize their own potential.

  • A creative director with purpose: You understand that great design applies visual principles to help adults process and retain new information. You provide constructive, inspiring feedback that not only cultivates an aesthetic consistent with the Capital One brand, but ensures the work actively manages cognitive load.

  • A player-coach: You have a highly creative mind's eye and are ready to jump in to own the design and production of high-visibility multimedia learning products-including videos, animations and UI/UX design-leading your team by example.

  • A collaborative partner: You demonstrate exceptional communication skills, partnering seamlessly with instructional designers, cross-functional leaders and business stakeholders.

  • An innovator: You don't just follow design trends; you anticipate them. You stay current on the latest in digital design and educational technology, continually introducing emerging tools and fresh ideas to elevate the entire team's output.

Here's what you need to be successful:

  • Technical toolkit: Expert-level knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Premiere Pro and After Effects). Deep understanding of PowerPoint presentation design, UI/UX design principles and familiarity with HTML5 & CSS.

  • Operational excellence: Ability to oversee the team's project pipeline, effectively managing capacity, delegating tasks based on individual strengths and ensuring the timely delivery of outstanding learning products.

  • Applied adult learning: A foundational understanding of adult learning theories and how visual communication directly impacts learner engagement.

  • Demonstrated excellence: Applicants selected to advance in the recruiting process are expected to provide an online portfolio that demonstrates graphic design capability, strong knowledge of design principles and, if available, examples of creative direction provided to a team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, or Visual Communications

  • At least 2 years of experience managing, mentoring or leading a team of creative professionals
