Role Overview
The Director of Professional Services serves as a senior vCIO advisor to IVIONICS’s largest and most complex clients while leading the consulting branch of our organization. This role sets the strategic direction for the practice and oversees the team of Practice Managers (jr. vCIOs), legal application knowledge specialists, and consulting professionals who deliver on our client commitments. The ideal candidate brings executive presence, deep technology acumen, and the leadership to grow a high-performing advisory practice.
 
Responsibilities
Leadership & Practice Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Practice Managers (jr. vCIOs), legal application knowledge specialists, and consulting staff
  • Define the consulting practice’s vision, service offerings, and delivery methodology in alignment with organizational goals
  • Establish performance standards, career development pathways, and accountability frameworks for the professional services team
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration between consulting, managed services, sales, and operations

vCIO Advisory (Strategic Clients)
  • Serve as senior vCIO for IVIONICS’s largest and most strategic client relationships, owning executive-level engagement and long-term IT strategy
  • Develop and present technology roadmaps, business cases, and advisory deliverables that align client IT investments to business outcomes
  • Lead regular executive business reviews (EBRs), QBRs, and strategic planning sessions with C-suite and senior stakeholders
  • Act as a senior escalation point and trusted advisor across the client portfolio

Business Development & Operations
  • Partner with Sales on strategic pre-sales activities, solution scoping, proposal development, and pricing for professional services engagements
  • Own the P&L and utilization targets for the professional services practice
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery quality, documentation standards, and operational processes
  • Identify opportunities for service expansion and new revenue streams within existing and prospective client relationships
 
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in an MSP, IT consulting, or professional services environment
  • Demonstrated experience in a vCIO, IT Director, or senior advisory capacity with enterprise or mid-market clients
  • Proven track record of leading and scaling delivery teams with measurable outcomes
  • Executive-level communication skills—written, verbal, and presentation
  • Ability to translate complex technology concepts into clear business value for non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with IT governance frameworks, managed services models, and SLA management
 
Preferred
  • Experience supporting legal, financial, or regulated professional services clients
  • Familiarity with legal technology and document management platforms (iManage, NetDocuments, etc.)
  • Experience building or scaling a consulting practice within an MSP
