Job description

Overview

The Director of Product owns product growth across WRAL Media’s digital platforms, including WRAL.com, the WRAL News app, the WRAL Weather app, and our CTV / smart TV apps. This is a growth and strategy role — not newsroom content ownership. The Director sets the product roadmap, prioritization, user-experience standards, and growth goals across every platform, and partners closely with Sales, Brand, News, and Technology to translate product opportunities into revenue-ready packages. Over time, this role becomes the organizational home for Data & Insights and will define and select a future Go-to-Market Strategy Lead.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Owns product growth across all WRAL Media platforms, including WRAL and FOX 50 broadcast properties, WRAL.com, the WRAL News app, the WRAL Weather app, and CTV / smart TV apps.
  • Sets the product roadmap, prioritization, user-experience standards, and growth goals across platforms.
  • Translates product opportunities into revenue-ready packages in partnership with Sales, Brand, News, and Technology.
  • Owns product-side strategy for personalization, engagement, app utility, distribution, and audience growth.
  • Establishes measurement and success criteria for product initiatives and reports on growth against goals.
  • Serves as the eventual organizational home for the Data & Insights function.
  • Defines, scopes, and selects the future Go-to-Market Strategy Lead once the product organization is established.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Seven or more years of digital product management experience — ideally in media, news, streaming, or consumer applications — including experience owning a roadmap and leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Demonstrated record of growing digital audience, engagement, or revenue across web and mobile; experience with multiple platforms including web, iOS/Android, and CTV/smart TV.
  • Proficiency with product analytics platforms (e.g., GA4, Amplitude, or Mixpanel), roadmap and design collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Productboard, Figma), A/B testing frameworks, and modern web/app content management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to align and influence stakeholders across Sales, Brand, News, Technology, and executive leadership.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking; able to translate ambiguous opportunities into prioritized, measurable product plans.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in local news, broadcast, or a comparable multi-platform media environment.
  • Direct experience with CTV / FAST applications and connected-TV product growth.
  • Experience building or managing a data and analytics function.
  • Experience hiring, scoping, and building a product or go-to-market team.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift files, office materials, or packages up to 15 pounds.
  • Clear vision and hearing required for meetings, presentations, and reviewing financial documents.
  • Ability to move about an office environment and attend meetings in various office locations.
Work Conditions
  • The role is typically performed in a professional office environment.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary to meet with stakeholders or visit company-owned properties.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Benefits package including:
    • Comprehensive health insurance plan options
    • Vision and Dental Insurance
    • Company sponsored life insurance
    • Numerous voluntary benefit options – legal plans, pet insurance, discounted home and auto and more!
    • 401K with company match
    • Generous paid time off
    • 9 paid company holidays
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
  • Dynamic and inclusive work environment with a supportive team culture.
  • Exciting projects and growth opportunities within a leading organization.
  • Opportunities to attend free local events, such as sporting events, concerts, shows, and more.
