Job Duties
- Performance Measurement and Reporting
- Own the performance measurement framework, including time-weighted and money-weighted return calculations, benchmarking, attribution, and peer comparisons across the endowment, pensions, and component pools.
- Produce timely, accurate, and insightful reporting for the CIO, Investment Committee, Board, university leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Lead the design and continuous improvement of dashboards and reports that bring clarity to portfolio positioning, risk, and performance.
- Ensure performance reporting complies with applicable industry standards (e.g., GIPS where relevant) and institutional policies.
- Risk and Portfolio Analytics
- Build and maintain the portfolio analytics infrastructure, including exposures, factor and risk decomposition, liquidity modeling, and scenario / stress testing.
- Partner with the investment team on asset allocation analytics, pacing models for private markets, and cash and liquidity forecasting.
- Develop and report on portfolio-level risk metrics, including market, credit, liquidity, concentration, and counterparty risk.
- Lead data integration across custodian, GP reporting, performance, and risk systems.
- Systems, Data, and Process
- Own the investment systems strategy, including selection, implementation, and ongoing administration of performance, risk, portfolio management, and reporting platforms (e.g., Solovis, Backstop, Burgiss, Caissa, eFront, Aladdin, or comparable).
- Champion data quality, automation, and process discipline across the Investment Office.
- Establish and document policies, procedures, and internal controls for investment operations and reporting.
- Investment Operations
- Oversee all investment operations, including trade and commitment processing, capital calls and distributions, cash management, wires, FX, custody, and corporate actions in partnership with the custodian and administrators.
- Manage relationships with strategic partners, custodian, fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel on operational matters.
- Maintain books and records for the endowment and pension pools, including reconciliations across custodian, GP, and internal systems.
- Lead operational due diligence on new manager relationships in coordination with the investment team.
- Own subscription documents, side letters, and ongoing legal/operational documentation in coordination with counsel.
- Leadership and Partnership
- Build and lead the operations, performance, and analytics function, including hiring, developing, and managing staff as the team scales.
- Partner closely with the CIO, Deputy CIO, MDs, and investment professionals to ensure operational and analytical excellence supports investment decision-making.
- Work cross-functionally with University Finance, Treasury, Audit, General Counsel, and Risk Management.
- Serve as a key operational point of contact with the Investment Committee and Board on matters within scope.
- Coordinate operational, performance, and analytical workflows with the Office's external investment partners under an extension-of-staff model, ensuring data integrity, consistent methodology, and clear internal ownership.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10 years or more years of progressively senior experience in investment operations, performance measurement, and / or investment analytics at an asset owner (endowment, foundation, pension), OCIO, asset manager, fund administrator, or comparable institution.
- Deep expertise in performance measurement methodologies (TWR, IRR, attribution) across multi-asset portfolios including private markets.
- Strong working knowledge of investment operations across asset classes, including private fund accounting and partnership reporting.
- Experience selecting, implementing, and operating investment systems and analytics platforms.
- Strong management and communication skills; ability to translate complex analytics into clear narrative for senior audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in CFA, CIPM, CPA, or comparable credential
- Direct experience supporting an endowment, foundation, or pension portfolio with material private markets exposure.
- Familiarity with risk analytics platforms (e.g., Aladdin, MSCI BarraOne, Caissa) and private markets analytics (e.g., Burgiss, Cobalt/Cobalt LP).
- Technical skills including SQL, Python, or comparable, and modern BI / visualization tools are an advantage
- Experience designing reporting for fiduciary boards, investment committees, and senior university leadership.
