Position Summary


Elite Brands is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven, and results-oriented leader to serve as Director of Business Development. In this high-impact role, you will drive growth by leading sales initiatives with DeCA (Defense Commissary Agency) Headquarters, cultivating new vendor partnerships, and expanding Elite Brands’ presence across the Commissary and Exchange systems.

Key Responsibilities:


DeCA Headquarters Sales Leadership

  • Serve as Elite Brands’ primary liaison to DeCA HQ for an assigned brand portfolio, with opportunities to grow responsibilities over time.
  • Deliver compelling, insights-driven presentations that highlight category opportunities, promotional strategies, and new item launches.
  • Build trusted relationships with DeCA buyers, category managers, and HQ leadership to drive alignment and portfolio advocacy.
  • Leverage data tools such as Circana, SDS, Tableau, and internal dashboards to prepare sales materials and track business performance.


New Vendor Partner Recruitment

  • Strategically Identify, evaluate, and recruit new vendor partners to expand offerings across both Commissary and Exchange markets.
  • Assess partnership opportunities based on strategic fit, growth potential, and operational readiness.
  • Lead onboarding and integration, ensuring vendors are successfully aligned to Elite Brands’ buy/sell model.


Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with internal Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to align strategies and execution.
  • Support promotional planning, product launches, and marketing campaigns that drive measurable growth.

 

Elite Brands Business Model & Tools

  • Become an expert in the Elite Brands buy/sell model, applying it consistently with vendors and customers.
  • Utilize advanced tools such as Circana, SDS, Tableau, EOS, and performance dashboards to inform business decisions.


Travel Requirements: Regular travel to DeCA HQ (Richmond, VA), Elite Brands HQ (Norfolk, MA), and trade shows; 30-40%.


Required Qualifications

These qualifications will be verified based on your resume and past experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related discipline (e.g., Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing)
  • 7+ years’ sales experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to deliver high-impact presentations and influence senior-level decision-makers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and sales storytelling.
  • Background in the grocery, CPG, or retail industry; experience in the military resale channel preferred.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of the military resale system (DeCA and Exchange operations).
  • Familiarity with syndicated data platforms (Circana, Nielsen, or equivalent).
