Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a Director of Finance to report directly to the CFO. This role oversees two direct reports and plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s financial operations, reporting, compliance, and strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical finance and accounting expertise, and experience in nonprofit financial management.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee key financial operations including endowment management, cash management and treasury functions, construction accounting, portfolio management, contract administration, financial systems management, internal controls and financial reporting.
• Partner closely with the CFO, Controller, Finance Team, and other functional departments across the organization.
• Evaluate accounting and financial reporting needs and assist in the design and implementation of systematic applications and processes.
• Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles for nonprofit organizations.
• Support audit preparation, compliance initiatives, and ad hoc financial reporting projects.
• Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to leadership.
• Manage and mentor direct reports while fostering a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5–8 years of relevant finance and accounting experience required.
• Experience within a nonprofit environment strongly preferred.
• MBA preferred, but not required.
• Experience with Financial Edge software is a plus.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, treasury and cash management, accounting systems, and nonprofit accounting principles.
