Director Fermentation & Utilities
Location: Belvidere, NJ/USA
We're building our Production leadership team in Belvidere - we're hiring for Director Fermentation & Utilities. This is acritical role at Belvidere that manages the fermentation plant, which has a pilot plant, and the utilities for the site. The products we manufacture at Belvidere are supplied to a global customer base via globally managed distribution and supply chain management process. You will participate on multiple product-specific business teams (at global/divisional business level) to be successful at meeting business deliverables. In this role, you'll work within cross-functional business teams at a divisional level to drive success.
Local drivers of success rely on your ability to recognize the need to modify existing work processes, build consensus for the proposed changes at local/regional level and then manage a successful implementation at the operations level. Your change management knowledge includes the ability to accurately benchmark both internal and external processes.

Your key responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and organize production process activities to ensure compliance with corporate and government standards, rules, and regulations and other industrial codes and practices.
  • Establish immediate and long-term operational, organizational, technical and maintenance strategy of operations to achieve the Operations goals of the business
  • Identify and oversee objectives and key performance measures and drive continuous improvement activities to achieve short and long term goals
  • As member of Site Leadership, formulate site goals consistent with global strategy as well as site policies and procedures and organizational constructs that integrate and achieve site, corporate, and global vision, mission and initiatives
  • Develop operating and maintenance strategy to efficiently operate Site Utilities and Waste & Water treatment operations within compliance.
  • Show leadership and lead by example, working to Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) standards and encouraging employees to work to the same standards

The salary scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant's job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and primary work location. Salary $157,200-$290,600.
In addition to base salary, we also offer a comprehensive total rewards package, inclusive of annual incentive pay, a retirement savings plan, health care coverage, paid time off, recognition programs and a broad range of other benefits. All benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements.

You bring
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience directly managing others along with strong leadership skills
  • Knowledge of fermentation production processes and specific requirements
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory/compliance requirements related to the operation
  • Safety first mindset
  • Bachelor of Science in and Engineering or technical discipline, such as Chemical Engineering, required; Master's degree preferred
