Job description

Responsibilities

Wellstone Regional Hospital is a 100-bed acute care facility located in Jeffersonville, Indiana and has been providing quality health care to the residents of Southern Indiana and the Louisville area since 2003. Wellstone specializes in the treatment of Adolescents, Children, Adults, and the CD population. In addition to our in-patient services, we offer out-patient programs as well.  Wellstone is currently searching for an Associate Director of Clinical Services - Inpatient.

The Associate Director directs daily operations, strategic development, and clinical delivery for high-acuity Inpatient Services, encompassing adult, adolescent, and specialized acute psychiatric units. Collaborates closely with the Director of Clinical Services to optimize inpatient bed utilization and census volumes against budgetary targets by actively tracking, trending, and analyzing performance metrics, including average length of stay (ALOS), daily admissions, and discharge transition rates. Provides cross-functional leadership and direct operational oversight across key inpatient verticals, including intake/admissions, unit scheduling, inpatient nursing care, and safe patient transport. Fosters strong interdisciplinary collaboration across attending psychiatrists, medical staff, inpatient therapists, and administrative teams while maintaining a direct clinical presence on the units to lead crisis stabilization, de-escalation, and complex patient care concerns. Ensures strict compliance with organizational policies, CMS, Joint Commission standards, and federal and state laws governing involuntary and voluntary psychiatric care. Drives workforce excellence through the execution of robust onboarding, targeted crisis-intervention training (such as CPI), and ongoing professional mentorship for all inpatient unit personnel.

Job Duties:

-Directs the daily clinical operations of acute inpatient psychiatric units, managing patient flow, safety protocols, and daily shift huddles.

-Leads high-acuity crisis interventions, provides senior clinical consultations for complex cases, and oversees psychiatric de-escalation or emergency restraint protocols

-Ensures strict adherence to CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA, and state mental health laws, maintaining units in a continuous state of survey readiness.

-Assists DCS in supervision and evaluation of team members’ performance, including inpatient therapists, social workers, PRN staff, and recreational activity staff.

-Monitors daily staff caseload, manages admissions and discharge workflows, and analyzes data to optimize the Average Length of Stay (ALOS).

-Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Requirements:

· Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with extensive experience in mental health      and hospital setting;

· LCSW, LMHC, LCAC, LMFT;

· Minimum of three (3) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting desirable;

· Service Excellence mentality;

· Knowledge of medical terminology;

· CPI and CPR;

· Ability to communicate effectively;

· Professional, exercises good judgement;

· Thorough knowledge of Word, Excel and other software programs.
