Job Description
About the Role
AbbVie's International Business Analytics team sits at the intersection of commercial strategy, enterprise technology, and business transformation - and this role is central to that mission. As Associate Director, International Business Analytics, you will define the therapeutic area analytics agenda on a global scale, shape how data-driven decision-making is embedded across the organization and deliver measurable business impact.
In this role, you will drive high-priority analytics initiatives, serve as a senior advisor to brand and commercial leadership, and actively champion a culture of analytics excellence across AbbVie's international organization.
What You'll Do
Define Strategic Analytics Direction
  • Provide forward-looking insights that directly shape international brand strategy and performance optimization.
  • Play a leading role in the design and continuous evolution of Business Analytics function - establishing frameworks, standards, and best practices across brands.
  • Proactively identify new and innovative approaches that would improve our ability to answer commercial business questions and transform it into analytic solutions.

Drive Collaboration
  • Partner strategically with Business Intelligence, Brand Leadership, Data Strategy, and IT functions to co-develop, launch, and scale analytics capabilities that drive competitive advantage.
  • Lead strategic engagement with external data and technology partners (including IQVIA, ZS, Veeva, and others), directing vendor relationships and ensuring AbbVie accesses best-in-class data assets and capabilities.
  • Partner with internal teams and external data vendors to provide regular data education and training across the Commercial organization and introduce new leading-edge analytics to enhance our data and analytics capabilities.

Qualifications
Essential Skills & Experience
  • A demonstrated passion for data, analytics, and driving business transformation at enterprise scale
  • 12+ years of progressive analytics experience, including 7+ years in the pharmaceutical industry, with a track record of leading high-impact, complex global analytics programs
  • Deep expertise across pharma data types (sales, promotional, real-world, patient-level data) with the ability to synthesize complex datasets into strategic insights
  • Deep knowledge of data and service vendors including IQVIA, Veeva, ZS, and comparable ecosystem partners
  • Proven leadership in a complex, matrixed, global environment - driving cross-functional partnerships and alignment across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills - able to distill complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives that influence strategy and drive action
  • Demonstrated expertise in emerging technologies including AI, ML, Big Data architecture, and Data Ontology - with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Advanced degree (PhD, MA, MBA) strongly preferred, particularly with a focus on applied business analytics, data science, or another quantitative discipline

Nice to Have
  • Hands-on proficiency in PySpark, Python, or SQL - and the ability to engage credibly with data engineering and technical teams
  • Experience leading deployments on Palantir Foundry or comparable enterprise analytics and reporting platforms
