Procurement Manager – Edible Products
Location: Twin Cities Area (Hybrid – 1–2 days onsite)
Compensation: $100,000–$125,000 base salary + 10% target bonus
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead sourcing, purchasing, inventory planning, and supplier management activities for edible food products. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring product availability, maintaining quality and food safety standards, optimizing inventory levels, and driving cost-effective procurement strategies across domestic and global suppliers.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in food procurement, demand planning, supplier negotiations, and inventory management within a food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing, procurement, and supplier management for edible food products and ingredients.
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies that ensure product availability while optimizing inventory investment.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and establish strong strategic partnerships.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing teams on raw material sourcing and procurement initiatives.
- Partner with Product Management, Sales, Operations, Quality, and Demand Planning teams to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, ingredient requirements, and quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory optimization, cost reduction, and process efficiency.
- Manage product lifecycle activities and support new product introductions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Supply Chain and Procurement team members.
- Analyze inventory levels, demand forecasts, and purchasing trends to support informed business decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field.
- 8+ years of procurement, sourcing, supply chain, inventory planning, or demand planning experience within the food industry.
- 3+ years of leadership or direct people management experience.
- Proven experience negotiating supplier agreements and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, demand planning, and procurement best practices.
- Experience working with food ingredients, edible products, food manufacturing, bakery, confectionery, or consumer packaged goods environments.
- APICS, CPM, or related certification preferred.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with ERP and inventory management systems as well as Microsoft Excel.
