Job description

Job Summary

The Epic HIM Analyst is responsible for the design, build, implementation, and support of Epic HIM (Health Information Management) applications. This role supports medical records, chart completion, release of information (ROI), coding, and deficiency management workflows while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, build, and support Epic HIM modules including:
    • Chart Completion
    • Deficiency Tracking
    • Release of Information (ROI)
    • Chart Correction
    • Coding workflows
  • Work closely with HIM leadership, medical records staff, compliance, and IT teams to optimize workflows.
  • Analyze current HIM processes and recommend system improvements.
  • Support go-live activities, upgrades, and ongoing system maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Epic HIM issues, defects, and user requests.
  • Create and maintain documentation for workflows, build, and configuration.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in testing, validation, and quality assurance activities.
  • Provide end-user training and ongoing support.
Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Epic HIM Certification (required)
  • 3+ years of experience supporting Epic HIM or medical records systems
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Chart Completion
    • ROI
    • Deficiencies
    • Document Management
    • Coding workflows
  • Experience with Epic reporting tools (Clarity, Caboodle, or Reporting Workbench)
  • Understanding of HIM regulations and compliance standards
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large healthcare systems or hospital environments
  • Prior Epic implementation or optimization experience
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and medical coding processes
