Job description

Amazon MGM Studios is seeking a Global Head of Risk Management to lead the studio's Financial Risk Management program. This leader owns the strategy and implementation of the risk management and production insurance processes in support of a high-volume slate of global productions across all formats.
The Global Head of Risk Management leads the risk management team in a complex operational environment, across various production models in support of the studio's content creation goals. This leader deploys their team and processes in project-level management at-scale, delivering support for studio executives and external producing partners. They guide their team in finding paths forward in complex production environments while identifying, and mitigating potential risks to multiple parties. This leader also takes the risk management lead on high-risk, high-exposure situations on tent-pole productions where senior judgment is critical.
In addition to supporting production-level goals, this role ensures strategic alignment with cross-functional studio teams and the corporate risk management team while continuously working to evaluate and adapt to the dynamic entertainment, and insurance landscapes. This role also identifies and implements technology and AI solutions to automate manual processes and support scalability of operations.
Key job responsibilities
Lead the strategy and implementation of the financial risk management program for a high-volume slate of global productions across all formats, including Movies, Scripted Series, and Unscripted Series.
Manage and develop a team of Risk Managers, fostering professional growth and scope expansion while ensuring consistent delivery across the global slate.
Oversee the production insurance program including multiple broker and policy programs.
Manage annual renewals in collaboration with production and finance leaders.
Define and oversee the interpretation of insurance policy provisions, providing executive-level guidance on contractual terms, conditions, and application of coverage.
Lead the strategy for underwriting submissions and insurance policy renewals, and negotiate coverage and pricing for complex, high-value productions.
Promote the visibility of the Risk Management team and process to other content groups under Prime Video, and provide high-level guidance as needed.
Oversee claims management and tracking process, providing key tracking data to internal teams.
Partner with Corporate Risk Management to ensure synergy between corporate and studio programs, and deliver a comprehensive policy strategy that maximizes opportunities to leverage corporate programs.
Provide strategic problem-solving leadership for risk management workflows on tentpole projects, ensuring creative solutions that balance production needs with risk mitigation.
Work cross-functionally to identify and deploy technology and AI solutions to streamline manual workflows, scale team capacity, and drive operational efficiency.
Evaluate insurance policy quotes and direct negotiations with insurance brokers, providing strategic recommendations to senior production leadership.
Oversee the review of insurance binders, policies, endorsements, invoices, and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance across all territories.
Own and manage broker relationships in conjunction with Production, Legal, Finance, and Corporate Risk Management teams to ensure adequate servicing and adherence to SLAs.
Identify, communicate, and champion risk mitigation strategies, sourcing improvement opportunities across the global production portfolio.
Implement the strategy for evaluation of production contracts at-scale, including locations, equipment, and independent contractors/service providers.
Provide high-level Risk Management, and Production Insurance support for other GME groups as needed.
A day in the life
The Global Head of Risk Management leads the team that supports global production across all genres, including Movies, Scripted Series, and Unscripted Series. You will set the strategic direction for how the team collaborates with production partners around the world to assess insurance needs, place necessary coverage, mitigate risk, and find paths forward in challenging and unique situations. You will balance hands-on leadership of complex tent-pole projects with building scalable systems and develop your team to meet the demands of a growing global slate. You will also develop your strategy to scale operations through technology and process innovation, seeking out opportunities to force multiply.
You might start the day supporting one of your risk managers to help them refine their strategy to address a coverage gap on a production shooting across multiple countries, then shift to a meeting with Studio Tech to discuss the next phase of your Agentic AI-supported vendor contract review tool, followed by a phone call with the Production Exec on tent-pole film to discuss a cast coverage question, and then move to revising your two-pager explaining the policy renewal options you are preparing for finance.
