Job description

Lateral Conflicts Analyst

Direct Counsel is seeking a Lateral Conflicts Analyst to join a prestigious Am Law firm in New York, NY or San Francisco, CA.

This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional with 1+ year of law firm conflicts or legal support experienceto join a collaborative Conflicts & New Business team. The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting conflicts analyses, supporting attorney onboarding, maintaining ethical walls, and ensuring compliance with the firm's professional responsibility obligations.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive conflict checks for attorney, paralegal, and other lateral hires.

  • Generate, review, and analyze conflict reports using conflicts management software and research tools.

  • Research corporate affiliations, entity relationships, and matter histories to identify potential conflicts of interest.

  • Prepare conflict memoranda and summarize findings for attorney and management review.

  • Coordinate conflict resolution efforts with attorneys and the Office of General Counsel.

  • Create and maintain ethical walls in accordance with firm policies.

  • Respond to conflicts-related inquiries and prepare business development conflict reports.

  • Assist with onboarding processes and contribute to department initiatives that improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications
  • 1+ year of law firm conflicts, legal assistant, or comparable legal support experience.

  • Experience with law firm conflicts systems is preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and manage sensitive information.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $70,000-$99,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
