Job description

Overview
Reporting to the Senior Director, U.S. Channel Distribution, Alnylam seeks an experienced and focused individual to manage processes and procedures, and act with a strategic mind-set in all aspects of optimizing the distribution strategies to provide optimal access for all patients.
This individual is crucial in developing and executing integrated, evidence-based strategies and initiatives for assigned channel and distribution projects, ensuring consistency and compliance. This Associate Director will also lead strategic initiatives and projects, including vendor oversight, prioritization, and delivery of solutions that support business and future product launch objectives.
This strategic contributor will have the opportunity to drive channel specific strategies, collaborating with internal partners and external vendors to support successful product launches and ongoing projects. The Associate Director must be effective in enhancing internal resources, including onboarding and training of new team members, and development of tools, processes, and best practices. The successful candidate must be passionate about science and deeply motivated by the quest of delivering value to patients and their families with the long-term success of the company in mind.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the effective operations of the US distribution network so that product flows from 3PL to customer, safely and reliably
  • Ensure effective communication between Alnylam and external supply chain partners
  • Troubleshoot issues, optimize daily operations, and support day-to-day business needs
  • Develop, govern, and maintain SOPs, Working Instructions, and Channel Policies to leverage efficiencies and drive collaboration, while ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance
  • Develop and oversee new processes and workflow mappings
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for field-identified channel and distribution issues, coordinating cross-functional resolution strategies and driving timely and successful outcomes
  • Support contractual and operational performance of our Specialty Distribution and Specialty Pharmacy partners, including Days on Hand targets, KPI monitoring, and continuous optimization of channel execution
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Payer, Field Reimbursement, Patient Services, Analytics, Legal, Supply Chain, Compliance, Field Sales, and Strategic Accounts, to align strategy, manage escalations, and deliver solutions
  • Assess and track market and operational trends to inform proactive decision making, continuous improvement, and strategic and tactical planning
  • Manage RFP process, as appropriate
  • Liaise with Serialization Team to resolve DSCSA exceptions
  • Lead Product Training / Global Safety Training / Disease State Training for channel partners
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate policies and industry codes, in collaboration with Alnylam Legal, Regulatory and Compliance
  • Enhance knowledge of current industry trends and anticipate future changes

Required Qualifications
  • Pharmaceutical/biotech experience required
  • Minimum of 10 years industry experience, including SOP development, process mapping, contract analysis, pharma trending analytics, KPI management
  • Expertise in supply chain management including 3PLs, Specialty Distributors, Specialty Pharmacies and other customers
  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Strong leader with proven abilities to influence and create cross-functional alignment
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate and present complex information to higher level management and contribute to high-level discussions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-profile environment
  • Strong collaboration skills with the demonstrated ability to gather key stakeholder feedback and gain leadership alignment
  • Ability to lead without authority
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to produce board-ready presentation material
  • Demonstrates strategic-thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skillsets
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

  • Industry experience in Specialty Products
  • Experience with supply chain management for rare disease medicines preferred
  • Buy and Bill experience preferred

U.S. Pay Range
$168,300.00 - $227,700.00
The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
