Role Overview

The Director, Business Operations is a strategic leadership role at the center of how Canopy A&D runs as a platform. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this role owns platform-wide operational execution, performance reporting, M&A integration, and develops the standardized operating model that allows Canopy A&D’s operating companies to scale. This is a high‑visibility role with regular interaction with the executive team. The ideal candidate embraces ambiguity, and can lead multiple complex, cross‑functional workstreams end‑to‑end with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build platform‑level systems and processes that establish a standardized operating model across the operating companies
  • Lead strategic initiatives and operational projects that enable Canopy A&D to scale
  • Lead M&A operational integration including ERP adoption, and systems/process consolidation
  • Own all corporate metrics and lead monthly and quarterly reporting cycles across the platform
  • Own the end‑to‑end creation and rollout of functional standard operating procedures across the operating companies
  • Manage platform investments and track return on investment
  • Advise platform and company leadership on how to operate efficiently
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 7-10 years in program management, operations, engineering, or management consulting, preferably within a highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage 6-8 workstreams end‑to‑end simultaneously
  • Advanced knowledge of AI tools
  • Proficiency with ERP systems
  • Advanced‑level user of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience building materials for, and presenting directly to, executive leadership and investors
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or master’s degree in Business, Engineering Management, Operations, or a related technical field
  • Prior experience in a startup, private‑equity‑backed, or high‑growth manufacturing environment with evolving systems and processes
  • Experience leading or supporting M&A integration, including systems and process harmonization across newly acquired entities
  • Experience working within A&D or similarly regulated industries (AS9100, ITAR/EAR etc.)

Base Salary Range: $160,000 to $180,000

Business Hours: Core Business Hours

Base Location: Irvine, CA — Full Time, On‑Site

Travel: As needed to various company facilities

Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines
  • Willingness to travel to other Canopy A&D sites as needed
