Job Summary
A core component of the Equinix strategy is to identify and grow the major digital ecosystems that are crucial to the way businesses operate today. Collaboration is at the heart of the modern digital world! The Business Development organization in Equinix leads our work to set/execute the strategic direction and capture deployments for these rich and valuable ecosystems. We are looking for a Director of Business Development to lead our Network & Content Provider team, cultivating an ecosystem that will drive success for the business now and into the future. This role covers Equinix Americas with a team and customers from Santiago to Calgary.
The role marries a unique blend of leadership, industry expertise, strategic thinking, commercial skills and program delivery. The successful candidate will need to be able to work effectively with and influence a broad spectrum of stakeholders - both internal and external. You will need to set a clear vision for your team and deliver at scale across multiple strategic initiatives.
The role holds primary accountability for the business development and long-term growth of our Network/Content ecosystem built on both Internet and private networking. A key element of this will be the growth of our rich portfolio of Interconnection services that are central to the value of Equinix.
Responsibilities
Ecosystem Stewardship
  • Build, outline and execute a long-term vision to drive our strategic engagement with Network & Content Providers
  • Establish a high cadence innovation and execution engine to achieve your vision
  • Represent Equinix at key industry events delivering major speaking slots and with a strong leader/ influencer presence on social media
  • Be able to articulate and evangelize Equinix's broader strategy and position to our key Network / Content customer base
  • Work with key leaders and teams across Equinix to evolve our broader Interconnection strategy and message, providing insight on the characteristics of the AMER markets
  • Staying abreast on industry trends/dynamics, work with your team to build and scale out new and compelling use cases that will deepen our partnership with important customers

Achieve Business Targets
  • Lead the BD team to work alongside key colleagues in Sales and other go-to-market functions to achieve growth and ecosystem development. Key targets will include ecosystem size/growth, new deployments, new magnet providers and interconnection growth across the AMER Region
  • Working through the wider Equinix sales force to successfully achieve targets as well as acting as a partner to the wider leadership and Sales teams
  • Demonstrate enhanced strategic alignment with the most critical of our customers in the Network/Content verticals

Stakeholder Management & Influence
  • Build and engage lasting partnerships with other departments and key execs/leaders, including Sales, Pre-Sales, Product, Marketing and Commercial Finance
  • Product Management: collaborate on roadmap development and new capability introduction. Collect and share market data from events that will impact strategic direction
  • Be and advisor to AMER leadership team on your industry/ecosystem

Team Builder and Leadership
  • Grow and manage a team to execute programs for your ecosystem and customer base
  • Act as a strong leader to BD Managers, located in multiple countries in AMER
  • Develop skills and careers of the people on your team; providing coaching, mentorship and opportunity to grow
  • Building relationships and credibility amongst AMER Leadership team to represent Equinix with customers, partner exchanges and other industry groups
  • The successful candidate will be a self-starter, self-motivated, organized and will have clear ideas on how to achieve key goals and objectives

Qualifications
  • 12+ years of experience in Network Service Provider, CDN, or related fields
  • Proven track record of business development, ecosystem cultivation or similar
  • Experience working with networks (ISP, fiber, mobile, satellite, subsea,) IX providers, CDN, cloud providers
  • Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills

United States - Redwood City Office GHQ : 213,000 - 319,000 USD / Annual
United States - Denver Office DEO : 177,000 - 265,000 USD / Annual
United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 177,000 - 265,000 USD / Annual
United States - Ashburn Office AEO : 195,000 - 293,000 USD / Annual
Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 166,000 - 248,000 CAD / Annual
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
