Director, Business Development - Data Centers & Microgrid Solutions (Industrial Solutions)

Location

Hendersonville, NC or Auburn Hills, MI (Hybrid)

This position will be based at the BorgWarner Arden facility in Western North Carolina and will transition to a new facility in Hendersonville, NC or this position can based at the BorgWarner facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This position is expected to follow a hybrid work model; however, remote work may be considered based on business needs.

Why this role exists

BorgWarner is scaling its Industrial Solutions business to serve hyperscalers, data center developers, and microgrid operators with highreliability power and energy solutions.

This role owns commercial origination and customer acquisition in the data center and hyperscaler segment, acting as the senior commercial interface between BorgWarner and some of the world's largest energy consumers.

What you will own

  • Originate and close new business with hyperscalers, colocation providers, and data center developers

  • Build seniorlevel relationships across real estate, energy, infrastructure, and procurement teams

  • Position BorgWarner's industrial power and microgrid solutions as reliable, scalable, and commercially viable

  • Lead complex, longcycle deal development from first engagement through commercial close

  • Shape customerdriven product roadmaps and value propositions in collaboration with engineering and product teams

  • Represent BorgWarner externally at customer meetings, industry events, and strategic partner discussions

  • Provide structured market intelligence on competitors, pricing models, and buying behavior

What success looks like

  • Secured strategic customer engagements with hyperscalers or toptier data center developers

  • Credibility at VP / Director level inside customer organizations

  • A qualified pipeline of highvalue, repeatable opportunities

  • Clear commercial input into BorgWarner's industrial and microgrid strategy

What we are looking for

Required

  • Proven experience selling into hyperscalers, data centers, or large energyintensive customers

  • Track record of closing complex, multistakeholder infrastructure or energy deals

  • Deep understanding of how hyperscalers buy (procurement, technical approval, commercial decision flow)

  • Background in power generation, microgrids, critical infrastructure, or industrial energy systems

  • Ability to operate autonomously and influence without hierarchy

Preferred

  • Experience at or selling against companies such as Cummins, GE Vernova, ABB, Siemens Energy, or leading microgrid developers

  • Engineering or technical education combined with strong commercial acumen

  • MBA or advanced business education
