Our vision for Manufacturing Operations at BD

Our Manufacturing Operations organization comprises multiple manufacturing locations across the globe where our teams have a hands-on role producing high quality products in high-quality facilities, what allows us to provide our customers with exceptional products and solutions.

About the role

As Senior Director ISC Engineering Equipment you will be responsible for end to end leadership of equipment design, integration, and vertical ramp up across BD manufacturing sites globally in alignment with business growth, quality, cost, delivery, and regulatory requirements.

Leading a team of professional engineers, this position provides strategic engineering leadership, technical expertise, and people development while leading the technical roadmap and driving global standardization, operational readiness, and performance optimization of automated manufacturing equipment.

Main responsibilities will include:Strategy & Leadership

• Define and drive the global technology strategy for equipment engineering
• Build, lead, and develop high-performing global engineering teams
• Drive standardisation and modernisation across manufacturing sites
• Act as escalation point for critical production, quality, and supplier issues

Equipment & Process Design

• Lead equipment and process design aligned with manufacturing, quality, and safety requirements
• Optimise performance across cost, reliability, uptime, and maintainability
• Drive design excellence through robust review processes and continuous improvement
• Enable smart factory and digital (MES) integration into equipment solutions

Capital Project & Vendor Management

• Lead large-scale capital projects from concept through implementation and ramp-up
• Own CapEx planning, forecasting, and execution discipline
• Partner with suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery commitments are met
• Build strong vendor partnerships supporting long-term operational needs

Equipment Integration & Vertical StartUp

• Oversee equipment installation, integration, and production ramp-up
• Ensure minimal disruption to ongoing manufacturing operations
• Drive site readiness, including training and capability development
• Deliver expected performance in efficiency, reliability, and output

Operational Excellence & Performance (throughout the industrialization process)

• Ensure manufacturing lines meet quality, regulatory, and performance standards
• Drive improvements in OEE, uptime, and reliability
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across sites
• Enable data-driven decision making through equipment performance tracking

About you

You are an experienced engineering leader (15+ years of experience) with a strong track record of driving performance in complex, global manufacturing environments. You combine deep technical expertise with the ability to lead, influence, and build high-performing teams at scale.

• Proven experience leading global engineering or equipment organisations
• Strong background in manufacturing, automation, or equipment engineering
• Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g. MedTech, Pharma, Automotive)
• Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and develop high-performing teams
• Strong stakeholder management skills in a global, matrix environment
• Strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into execution
• Excellent communication and leadership presence
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred), MBA or MS in Engineering preferred
• Ability to frequently travel, both domestic and international (Up to 30-50%)

The salary or hourly rate offered is determined by the role's specific requirements, including any applicable step rate pay system at the work location. Salary or hourly pay ranges are influenced by labor laws and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements applicable to the work location which may also affect the workplace arrangement of the role.
