Job description

Job Summary:
Intrepid Direct Insurance is a rapidly growing direct to consumer property and casualty insurance company. They are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to mentor and implement data solutions that enhance the availability and quality of data for their business units and customers.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Assist with long-term strategic planning for modern data warehousing needs.
โ€ข Contribute to data modeling exercises and the buildout of our data warehouse.
โ€ข Monitor, support, and analyze existing pipelines and recommend performance and process improvements to address gaps in existing process.
โ€ข Automate manual processes owned by data team.
โ€ข Troubleshoot and remediate ingestion and reporting related issues.
โ€ข Design and build new pipelines to ingest data from additional disparate sources.
โ€ข Responsible for the accuracy and availability of data in our data warehouse.
โ€ข Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop data-driven solutions that align with our business and technical needs.
โ€ข Create and deploy reports as needed.
โ€ข Assist with cataloging and classifying existing data sets.
โ€ข Participate in peer reviews with emphasis on continuous improvement.
โ€ข Respond to regulatory requests for information.
โ€ข Assumes other tasks and duties as assigned by management.
โ€ข Mentor team members and advise on best practices.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
โ€ข 6+ years of relevant data engineering experience.
โ€ข Analytical thinker with experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment.
โ€ข Technical expertise with Microsoft SQL Server.
โ€ข Familiarity with ETL tools and concepts.
โ€ข Hands-on experience with database design and data modeling, preferable experience with Data Vault methodology.
โ€ข Experience supporting and troubleshooting SSIS packages.
โ€ข Experience consuming event-based data through APIs or queues.
โ€ข Experience in Agile software development.
โ€ข Detail oriented, solid organizational, and problem-solving.
โ€ข Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
โ€ข Team oriented with a strong willingness to serve others in an agile startup environment.
โ€ข Flexible in assuming new responsibilities as they arise.
Preferred:
โ€ข Experience with insurance data highly desired.
โ€ข Experience with Power Bi desired.
